Smoking

I don't believe there are any that do anymore, at least not that I am aware of. HAL I think was one of the last to permit it but I believe they have stopped allowing that now as well.

Most will have designated smoking areas on certain sides of the pool and perhaps promenade decks, and some will permit it inside the casinos, but that typically is it.

I was floored recently when the Safety and Orientation channel on the TV (playing when we got to cabin) discussed Holland America Line smoking policy and said that eCigs (ie. "vaping") were OK in the cabin. I did a big double take at that policy but then thought perhaps they are residue free enough to not present a cleaning issue. Might be a bit of a safety net for some smokers.

They should make smokers go someplace deep in the bowels of the ship where others don't have to be subjected to their 2nd hand toxins.

A door into the exhaust stack that opens to a "lounge" area inside. That way their smoke would be swept away by the smoke from the ship's engines, and non-smokers would not have anything to complain about because it would be completely out of the way. ;p

I suspect there would be a line of non-smokers complaining that they can't enjoy the bowels of the ship due to the heavy smoke smell.
