Really all inclusive?

I just have a hard time believing that...lol

What about fees or taxes? Other than canyon ranch, there is nothing else?

Canyon Ranch, casino, shops. There are optional upcharges on some excursions, and reserve wine lists, and super-premium spirits...but otherwise all-inclusive.

You CAN spend more money, but you don't HAVE to spend more money.

Fees, taxes and port charges are included in the fare. In terms of spirits, if Grey Goose Vodka and Patron Tequila isn't high end enough, there are, as Bill noted, a few (very few) super high end alcohols that can be purchased.

If you use a TA that regularly books luxury cruises (specifically Regent), you would likely get a percentage of your fare back and, on many itineraries they have a significant amount of on board credit (which we use to pay for some optional extras). As Bill said, you can leave a Regent ship without having paid an extra penny.

Thanks. I'm not much of a drinker or gambler, so I guess it is true. Lol

As i mentioned in another post, i booked directly with Regent, so lost out on any benefits that a TA would have.

Now I recognize your "name". You can also use the sauna, showers, etc. located in the Canyon Ranch Spa (included) as are the classes that they have. You really have to try and spend money on Regent. We do have cocktails and wine but do not gamble onboard. My DH has one massage per cruise and pays for that with OBC's. I splurge in the Boutique with any leftover OBC's.

Excursions are a bit different. We don't care for included excursions (but take them in some ports). When you book a Regent Choice excursion, you need to pay for them in advance (way in advance). However, when you get onboard the ship, you can take your tickets (that will be in your suite when you embark) to Destination Services and they can then use OBC's to "pay" for the excursion and your money will be returned in cash (no option to put it back on your credit card).

Just because you booked with Regent I believe you can still transfer your booking to a TA:D

I believe that this is true if it is within 30 days of booking but not after. If you are outside of the penalty phase (and if their is availability), you can cancel and rebook with a TA.

I did that last year. It was within 30 days. Also, needed to advise Regent in advance of what TA you are using or they said they will not release the booking.

Quick question. We are booked on a 44 night cruise. Can someone tell me about laundry facilities? What is included and what is extra? Also anyone have a list of laundry costs? This will be our first Regents Cruise. Thank you.

The guest laundry facilities are free and have detergent dispensers attached, so no need to bring or buy any. Sending laundry out is a bit more expensive, sorry I don't have a price list handy, but the service is fast and it's always been very good for us. We use our OBC for this - it took my wife a while to get me to do this instead of spending hours waiting for a dryer. :D

The laundry facilities are nice, but they're almost always crowded. You'll see people going from deck to deck with laundry bags. I used to be one of them, but now we just send stuff out. I've also been known to bring the little packets of Woolite and do smaller items in the bathroom and just hang them to dry. It all depends on your tolerance for sitting in laundry rooms. Mine ran thin.

Each Regent ship has free, self-service laundry rooms. No extra cost, other than your time...soap is included.

The ships also have one-day (maybe even same day if sent early enough) laundry service. I think the rates are reasonable, though I can't quote them. You are spending quite a bit to go on the cruise, so unless you either 1) enjoy doing laundry to the possible exclusion of other activities or 2) vying for the facilities (especially busy on sea days), just send it off. I did some laundry on our first few Regent cruises and then considered the above and retired from that activity.

Also, as something to look forward to, when you reach 75 nights (starting at the beginning of the cruise which takes you to that level), one of the new Gold benefits is one bag of laundry per 7 days. There is also a benefit for pressing clothes. At Platinum (200 nights), you get free unlimited laundry.

[bill beat me to the post!]

Thank you all for the prompt answers. We do have some OBC so looks like I'll dedicate it to laundry. My wife will be happier knowing she won't be spending at sea days in a laundry room. Actually I'LL be happy knowing that I won't have to deal with her after she spends her at sea day in the laundry room. :)

Scott, I used to be the laundry doer in our cabin, my wife finally convinced me to just send laundry out and enjoy the durn cruise!

And we'll be hitting Gold on our August cruise - my wife already warned me to not try and turn a lump of coal into a diamond by putting it in our laundry bag before we send it out. I think she's trying to insinuate that I'm a bit cheap, er, frugal!

While we are fortunate to have included laundry, I have spent time in the laundry room in the past. If you do not go at an "off time", it can be a most unpleasant experience. People take your clothes out of the washer/dryer if you aren't there the second that the cycle is completed. I read that some people take champagne into the laundry room and drink while waiting for their laundry to be finished. Not a bad idea.:champagne-toast:

I've always been worried about shrinkage. E.g. when I do laundry myself at home or on ship, there are a number of articles that I don't leave in the dryer until fully dried. I've queried this in the past, and pretty much all responders have said not a problem sending laundry out. Don't know if I'll be brave enough to give it a try on our next cruise, but it sure would be nice.

In the past we have done the self laundry fiasco a few times. Now that we have some free ship laundry

done that a couple of times. But must say. After doing our own,and having black slacks come back

light grey and so starched that they could stand up by themselves, we have finally learned to bring things

that we can wash either in the sink our in the shower and stomp on them. LOL. Hang them up to dry and

ready for use in a few hours.

Do have a portable steamer we take that does help to touch up some items, but most are wrinkle free.

Doing this also really helps keep us from over packing.

Well that and finally watching and realizing the "professional" cruisers bring about 4 outfits for 7 day cruise.

5 for 10, 6 or 7 for 14 etc.

I was surprised by one aspect of "all inclusive" that has not been mentioned. All tips and gratuities are included by default. Some are not comfortable with that, but we find that making a donation to the crew fund, which is not as widely advertised as it should be, is a good alternative.

I worried about that too, poss, but sent out a bag on our recent Mariner trip, and everything came back fine, including my t-shirts which I normally don't put in the dryer at all. Everything nicely folded too (or on hangers.)

Jim - love the visual of you stomping on your clothes. We also wash some clothes by hand but since we have included pressing, we send them out as they do a better job than I do. When we board the Explorer in 2 1/2 weeks, while I am unpacking I am putting things that need to be ironed in the bag..... makes things so much easier. However, as my DH would say "do you realize how much $$$ we had to spend in order to get free laundry?" :halo:

I have a problem with shrinkage, too. All my clothes feel smaller at the end of a cruise regardless of whether I launder them myself, send them out, or even if I haven't worn them yet.

Odd. ;p
