Serious assault in the Caribbean on a female passenger

I was speaking to a friend the other day and they told me about a female passenger on a P&O cruise getting into trouble on one of the island stops during a cruise to the Caribbean in February this year.

I've looked at the P&O schedules and she might have been on the Oceana.

I've seen nothing in the papers/internet.

Does anybody have any information on this?

As a pax on Oceana in Montego Bay this year I can state a story was much retold on board, post departure, that a fellow female pax had been robbed at knife point whilst ashore. Accounts were anecdotal, varied in detail and not first hand from the alleged victim nor witness. Whilst I cannot say if true, false or elaborated, similar stories often abound amongst the chaterazzi! I did hear, first hand, from two separate alleged victims that taxi drivers taking them from the ships berth into Montego Bay had been charged far more than the pre-agreed tariff and not allowed to exit the taxi until after payment. I had no reason to doubt those reporting these incidents.

Whilst I personally find Montego Bay to be a generally unpleasant/unsafe place to visit, P&O tours are ship to ship escorted, safe and pleasurable.

I too was on Oceana for this visit but never heard any such stories.

We felt pretty safe and the only downside was taxi drivers pestering us for business when all we wanted to do was walk.

I was amused by you 'Chatterazzi' quote. They had HQs on most decks, I think they were marked laundrettes.

Thanks for the responses.

Just spoke to her again and she tells me it was a sexual assault whilst visiting Grenada.

Why she couldn't tell me this originally I don't know.
