Do P&O still have Debates?

On our last cruise with P&O they had about four debates over the length of the cruise. Do they still have the debates? They were very enjoyable....apart from the venue were they were held...in the bar right next to the casino area....it was very hard to hear people's comments over the noise of the machines. The host....a member of the crew....asked for the machine noise to be turned down but unfortunately to no avail

We are on the Azura in September and it would be good to think that they still had them

How long ago was that? I've been on five or six P&O cruise since 2010, but none of them have featured a debate.

Agree never seen them at all. We have seen passengers speaking on a topic. This was on a long cruise.

I have just been checking through my old Horizons and it was in 2013 on the Ventura and called The Great Debate...held in the Exchange bar at noon and hosted by a member of the entertainment crew. The subjects were

Should there be an EU Referendum before the next Election?

Has Political Correctness Gone too far?

Should we bring back National Service?

Benefit Britain

Did We really Go to the Moon?

They were spread out over the 14 night cruise. The host didn't offer any opinion himself he just presided over it and kept it in order. It was very enjoyable and there was many varying opinions but unfortunately it was in competition with the gaming machines.

I find it difficult to understand that anyone would put in a proposal that the cruise should end earlier than the scheduled finish date. Were the vast majority of contributors to the debates suggesting that final disembarkation should be put back a number of days? How many extra days were agreed on eventually?

I took part in a debate on Ventura some time ago where the subject was should the UK leave the EU

There were about 50 people present and we started with a show of hands. Everyone voted to leave except one, me. Then the debate raged, almost literally on some occasions. I won the argument on logic but only changed a couple of peoples minds.

I suppose that P&O then decided debates were not a good idea. :D

Remember this from a couple of years ago on Ventura.

I attended one as a spectator in the Exchange bar and enjoyed listening to it.

The debate was quite vigorous and I remember the host saying, "What is said in here stays in here". Obviously not everybody's views were the same, I thought the concept was good but maybe it didn't always stay in the venue, hence the idea was dropped.
