I know there was a change in the classic drink package that started in April. Drinks up to $9 I believe and you pay the difference if you want something higher. Question:

1. Does anyone have recent Eclipse drink menus?

2. Does the pricing difference (over $9) apply to all bars?

3. Does anyone have any Eclipse dining menus - we are going on an 11 night southern Carribean cruise in December.

4. 1st time using Select dining option - can we just show up whenever we want? Can/should we make reservations?

5. Specialty restaurants - is there a way to make reservations before the cruise? If so- how and when?

Thank you all! Not our 1st cruise by any means but several years since a Celebrity cruise and we have been sailing Oceania of last, so that is what is in my mind of last re these issues.

Thanks!!!

Can't answer all of your questions, but will provide feedback on questions 4 and 5.

With Select dining, you can simply show up. We prefer to have an early dinner and have never had to wait more than 5 or 10 minutes for a table. In fact, we only had to wait once - the first night - and were always seated right away on the other nights. If you are a wine drinker, be sure to ask for the wine list when you are being seated so that you can see the entire list of "wines by the glass" rather than just the very brief list at the bottom of the dinner menu.

If you find yourself in a section with sub-optimal service or too noisy a location, you can request a different section the next day. On our last cruise, we tried three different sections - and settled in to the last one - with a waiter we really liked and much less noise. It was in the "private" back section of the MDR. Much better for us than in the front where noise tends to waft up from the lower level of the MDR. We loved the private area and asked to be seated in the same section each night after our first time there. You can make reservations, if you prefer. You can do so in person - as you leave - or on the phone from your cabin.

You can make reservations for specialty restaurants in advance of your cruise through the website. You have to log in to your account, navigate to your reservations and then "manage your reservation". Find the cruise planner and look for specialty restaurants. We have never purchased a package in advance since discounts are frequently offered for the first night, and it is possible to get discounts on other nights too. While having lunch the first day of our most recent cruise on Reflection, we were offered a 30% discount for that night in Lawn Club Grill. We negotiated a 40% discount and enjoyed our dinner so much that we returned on the last night (we were given a 20% discount as "return guests").

We will be on Eclipse for the first time next July. I am interested in seeing how it compares to Reflection and Equinox. We love those ships.

Enjoy your cruise!

Thanks for the info on how select dining works - much appreciated!

Interesting to know that you can negotiate the discounts for the specialty dining options - I read somewhere else too that discounts on the 1st night are pretty common - so will probably wait until we board to see what happens with the dining.
