Dream-New Orleans-January Cruise-weather

We have a cruise scheduled January 14th out of New Orleans. Can anyone advise me of the weather during mid-January? Is it cold for sail away and at what point would we start to feel tropical temps?

We have a cove balcony and love it, have sailed the Dream once before. Any comments from recent cruisers would be appreciated.

It's New Orleans, so it's a toss-up. It could be fairly chilly. If it's looking like it will be on the cooler side, when you board the ship it will feel much cooler due to the wind coming off the river. Or it could be sunny and 85F. With NOLA, you just never know.

Several years ago we left New Orleans wearing shorts, came back a week later and had to drive back home in Mississippi while it was sleeting the whole way home.

I have spent 46 Januaries in New Orleans, and no two have been the same.

You don't have to overpack. Just check out wwltv.com or weatherchannel.com a few days before you cruise and you'll know what you need.

We will also be on that cruise AND in a cove balcony!

You should bring both because it could be warm/cold for sailaway and then cold/warm for getting back into port. Whatever the weather is, you'll experience it the 1st full day on the ship and the last full day.
