Misty Morning Posted August 24, 2017 #1 Share Posted August 24, 2017 I see that the San Juan based itineraries (San Juan & Virgin Islands, Gems of Leeward Islands) for next fall and winter have replaced the Culebra stop with Vieques instead. Does anybody know why?
s_yvr Posted August 25, 2017 #2 Share Posted August 25, 2017 Yes, I'm booked on Pride Dec 2 - this is the letter I received: *** Windstar will call at Vieques, Puerto Rico instead of the original scheduled stop at Isla Culebra, Puerto Rico. This change is being made for operational reasons, and we believe your experience will be positively impacted as well. Isla Culebra has a narrow channel entrance, which frequently forces us to cancel our stop there due to strong winds. Vieques does not have this problem and should provide a more sheltered anchorage. Similar to Isla Culebra, it will give you a taste of small-island life in Puerto Rico. Vieques boasts more than 20 breathtaking and diverse beaches, each with its own character and appeal. There are no stoplights, fast-food chains, nightclubs, or shopping malls. The main attraction is Mother Nature, but you will also find a delightful selection of restaurants and a few stores. Since we are no longer visiting Isla Culebra, any shore excursions you booked will be cancelled and you will be able to purchase other tours. Please view the excursions online and purchase in advance so you don’t miss out. We apologize for any inconvenience this port change may cause, and we trust that this change will enhance your experience. As always, our primary goal is to provide the best voyage possible for you. surmy555 Posted August 25, 2017 #3 Share Posted August 25, 2017 Our Jan 20th cruise on the Pride now includes Vieques as well. Anyone have information on beaches on Vieques? Not much info on the port of call boards. Does anyone know where on this island the ship will port?

CoralReef Posted September 1, 2017 #5 Share Posted September 1, 2017 (edited) Does anyone know where on this island the ship will port? It will be Esperanza. I found this out through cruisetimetables.com, but you can verify it on the Windstar site by reading the shore excursion descriptions, where they mention picking you up at Esperanza.
