Breakfast on the Black Watch?

I'll be taking my first FO cruise this summer on the Black Watch to the Arctic. I wanted to ask about the breakfast offerings on the ship. From having sailed with Swan Hellenic and Voyages of Discovery, I know British ships offer more traditionally British breakfast offerings (hot oatmeal, corn flakes, the usual fry-up, etc.).

My usual breakfast, however, is granola with berries and nuts, berry yogurt, and juice. Will I find any of my favorites served or should I plan on packing my own granola (I actually did this on my second Swan cruise)?

I'm also a cocoa drinker. One thing I loved about the Minerva was the self-serve specialty coffee machine in the buffet which, in addition to having buttons for espresso and cappuccino, offered just hot milk that I could use with my own cocoa mix. Does the Black Watch have anything equivalent? Or will I be stuck with the dreaded make-with-hot-water packets?

Thanks for the help.

They do serve a product called Alpen in packets and loose on the self serve which I believe is similar to your granola. Mixed berries with oats etc. They also serve plenty of other fruits at breakfast, and you can either go self serve or the waiter will accept your order and bring it to your table.

Not sure about the hot milk on self serve as I have not used it. They do, however, have a coffee shop mid ships where they serve specialist coffee, chocolate etc, but you have to pay. If you like chocolates, they also sell sone really delicious ones there as well.

Thanks for the information. Didn't need to hear about the chocolates as they will certainly be my downfall  Alpen is a muesli which is rather plain so it looks like a quick trip to Sainsbury on the way to ship to pick up some of their good granola.

To add to other comments, we travelled 3 times on Black Watch last year and in addition to the cereals mentioned above there are also bowls with nuts, seeds, dried fruit etc., in the buffet area so you can add these to make up a tasty breakfast. There is also bircher muesli, served in sundae glasses also on the buffet, with a berry compote on the top which is delicious. There is fresh fruit available and also healthy options such as smoked salmon and scrambled eggs and kedgeree made to order (although, to be honest, the day I tried the kedgeree it could have been better!).

We have always enjoyed the food on Fred and have had no complaints - we have found them good with special dietary needs when needed.

Enjoy your trip to the Arctic - we are doing this trip this year too (again) but this time on Balmoral.
