Do I need a boarding pass to board?

I just booked the cruise to Tahiti last minute for the 14th. Do I need boarding passes or even to print the e-ticket or is just my passport sufficient? I ask because I am on business away from home and will be travelling there directly.

There will be someone on the dock checking people in. While it helps to have the documentation, they'll also have you on a list and as long as you can show your passport you should be fine. They'll just check you off. Did you get an email PDF of the invoice? If so, you can probably also show them that on your pc/phone if they actually need something.

Normally you need a boarding pass to get into the port area. I cruised from Tahiti about 15 years ago. I think the port area was very open then and you did not need any ID to get in. But times have changed. I would always take one to be on the safe side.

Agreed. I'd forgotten that at some ports you need a pass just to get into the port area.

I went on this cruise in June and realized in the LA airport that I had forgotten to bring the boarding pass that Windstar had mailed me. It was not a problem....they didn't even ask for it. I simply handed them my passport.
