Southampton night before cruise stay and parking

I have got a cruise booked for 19/09/16 with Royal Caribbean. The parking company they use is all booked. We are looking for a hotel the night before the cruise and parking for the duration of the cruise. Any advice on what company to use?

Have a look at premier inn. Cheap and cheerful accommodation and often have stay and park offers available.

Unfortunately this is during the Southampton International Boat Show.

So city hotels will be pretty booked-up, and various stay-and-park deals such as Holiday Inn or Grand Harbour (part of the Boat Show set-up) aren't available.

You could check out Ibis or Novotel or Jury's Inn or the Mercure Dolphin, though they'll probably be booked-out. I don't know which Premier Inn Sancho is referring to, but Premier Inn West Quay doesn't have its own parking - they have discounted parking in the adjacent shopping mall multi-storey, though I doubt that applies to long-term parking

Two main options.......

Find a simple parking deal elsewhere.

Via http://www.parkonmydrive.com/ or https://www.justpark.com/?gclid=CMD165r52c4CFekV0wod65EJnQ These are consolidation websites for local residents to earn a few bob by renting out parking at their home. Check the distance from the port & any transfer arrangements / costs.

Or secure long-term cruise parking athttp://www.holidayextras.co.uk/southampton-port-parking.html

This is located on the opposite side of Southampton Water (don't be fooled by cruise ships in the back of any photos ;)), with an included minibus shuttle.

Or look for a park & cruise hotel deal further out of town.

For instance the Hiltons at Chilworth or the Ageas Bowl, or the Holiday Inn at Eastleigh. Transfers are needed & are usually included.

Complete the form on this website for a list of hotels, though I don't know whether it sifts out those fully booked for your dates

http://www.destinationsouthampton.com/cruise/cruise-stay-enquiry-form/

I strongly suggest you avoid meet-and-greet operators. Parking 4 Cruises has a decent reputation, but others get up to the usual tricks such as parking on the street or in fields or even using your car for taxi work or personal transport - naming names is of no value, when bad reputation overtakes them they just change their name .

I should be looking at Holiday Inn Herbert Walker Avenue, who do cruise and parking deals with integrated taxi transfers. They are close to the terminal and can see ship, however it might not be same ship/terminal but taxi takes you to the relevant terminal as required. Free swimming pool on site.

Similar set up with Grand Harbour Hotel Southampton(including free swimming pool) although I have never used their parking but booked independent parking with CPS Cruise Parking Services, it's a valet collect your car. You just drive to terminal, which may be done from your home or short distance from any hotel. Get in the CPS queue and at terminal and guys take your luggage and another drives off in your car. These days they photograph it and give you a receipt to retrieve your car at end of cruise.

At end of cruise go to CPS kiosk, give them receipt they give you keys and grid reference of where your car has been parked by them.

JB's post was not showing when I posted mine, above.

Anyway if you can get parking with CPS, I would go for it. Otherwise it's hotel and park, I stayed at Hilton Ageas Bowl and it's very nice. You can upgrade to a room overlooking Hampshire cricket pitch with a huge balcony. Evening meals were expensive £75 for two people. There seems to be a huge parking area at the Hilton and it's easy to find. There is also a Holiday Inn express nearby as an alternative. In either case a longish walk or short drive will get you to nearby retail parks with fast food restaurants. We walked for shopping. No swimming ools at either location.

Hi. Assuming you want one night from the 18/09 to the 19/09 for two persons, there is some availability, despite the boat show...

We've only stayed at http://www.laterooms.com/en/hotel-reservations/231433_holiday-inn-southampton.aspx. They do a stay, park and cruise package for up to 15 nights parking, which we've used, but you can pay for additional parking I've been told at £7/day. http://www.hisouthamptonhotel.co.uk/offers/stay-cruise/park-stay-cruise/

But this gives some ideas on rooms remaining elsewhere in Southampton http://www.laterooms.com/en/k16303677_southampton-hotels.aspx?k=Southampton%2C+UK&n=1&d=20160918&rt=2-0&pr-min=55&pr-max=495&distanceUnit=on&SortOrder=Distance&SortedAscending=true

Hi,

The boat show does bump prices up quite considerably, as a suggestion find a hotel a little bit out of Southampton then use one of the off site car park services (where they meet you at the cruise terminal then park the car somewhere else then have it back on site when you return). When we cruised from Soton in May we did this, can't remember the company but all went well, there were a couple of companies at the terminal doing this.

Hope this helps

Pete

Dear all,

Many thanks for all of your posts and suggestions. I have now booked a premier inn and parking with APH. I got parking for 13 nights for £115 and the hotel for £61 which was cheaper to do it separately rather than as one order. Again thank you for your assistance!!

Nathan
