Purchasing Ship Tours

Just a quick questions about pre-purchasing ship tours. If I pre-purchase them do they take the money straight away or are the purchase prices added to your shipboard account?

I normally do my own thing in ports but my upcoming cruise has a lot of ports in Asia so thought it might be best to do the ship tours.

The only thing to bear in mind about waiting until you are on the ship to book is that popular tours may sell out and prices may increase.
