Without reading 187 pages of comments, is there a chart either on Bank of America or Norwegian that gives you what your conversion options are with the points? I've searched Norwegian's site, and didn't come back with anything, and on Bank of America, I can't find something telling me what I am eligible for?

Thank you all!!

On the NCL website main page under Specials click on Preferred Partners, then click on Learn More on Worldpoint Rewards under Preferred Partners. Here is the direct link to the Overview Page - there is a tab for the terms and conditions.

We do not use our points for OBC. We save points and use them for the category upgrade options. For example, on our Dawn 14 night cruise this fall from Boston to New Orleans we only paid for an oceanview stateroom and used 60,000 points (which would equal $600 in OBC) for a Cross Meta Upgrade to an aft facing balcony. I paid $1801 for a stateroom that was going for over $4,000 before the category sold out. LOL the entire ship is sold out so I'm very glad we booked early.

Another example, for our Oct 2016 cruise on the Gem paid $2,160 for an oceanview category OV and used 30,000 points (which would equal $300 OBC) for a category BA balcony which is currently going for $3,337.

In both instances I had to talk to the WorldPoint specialist at NCL. I knew what stateroom I wanted to end up with and worked backwards from there. For the Gem cruise the aft facing balcony was not an option, BA was as high as they would go.

Yes, I was getting really excited with having 100,000 points after reading the first few pages, but, I couldn't find anything online offering that great of a deal? My husband said that he can "sell" or I guess redeem the points for $2000, which is a better deal than $1000 OBC. Thank you for helping me!!

You have better options :) Please see the post done just after yours - - link is provided to all the options on NCL's website along with a couple examples of how we used some of our points. Between the two of us we still have about 50,000 points - nice thing is we can transfer them between us as needed.

Please see bolded corrections to my previous post - the Dawn sailing was Double Cross Meta Upgrade- inside to balcony for 60,000 points. The Gem was Cross Meta Upgrade, oceanview to balcony for 30,000 points.

Thanks for re-posting your information(Post#3728).

We plan on booking our next cruise with the Double Cross Meta Upgrade.

I had NO IDEA what in the world a "double cross meta" upgrade might have been and could not find anything describing the tour agent lingo into lay language but I DID find this in some VERY tiny print....still doesn't tell me much though and seems to be incomplete. What does the term "Double" mean when applied to the description below? Could someone us to where it is formally described on NCL's site?

"Promo Code: UPFLEET. Cross-Meta upgrade refers to selected sailings which have the option to book a specific Oceanview category for the price of a specific Interior category or book a specific Balcony category for the price of a specific Oceanview category or book a specific Mini-Suite category for the price of a specific Balcony category."

This feels like a bad comedy routine...

On some limited number of cruises that you will need to (somehow) find one can possibly (but not always) pay for an inside cabin but get an Oceanview. Same thing with Balcony up to Mini-suite.

What makes these any different from a normal ...."category" upgrade?

I now know what my wife feels like when she tries to listen into one of my business calls with all the acronyms. I got ...nothing...LOL

You are right. Sometimes the issue is with first understanding the definitions of "catagories" and "metas"...

listed under "terms and conditions".

Upgrade refers to a better available accommodation within the META (Interior to Interior, oceanview to oceanview or balcony to balcony).

Cross-Meta upgrade refers to having the option to book a specific Oceanview category for the price of a specific Interior category or book a specific Balcony category for the price of a specific Oceanview category.

Double Cross-Meta upgrade refers to having the option to book a specific Balcony category for the price of a specific Interior category.

WOW - I don't know when the program changed so drastically from what it was years ago when this thread started to what it is today, but I think that this thread should be put to sleep and a new one started. Anyone reading the first page might just say, well that's just too complicated to deal with, and not go to the end to see the current status of the program. I only did because I wondered what discuss bolded the link, and found a totally different program being described. Glad I did.

Thanks for the details. At least I was in the ballpark. However, I may still be at a bit of a loss to understand WHEN those specifics might be available to a typical cruise shopper. How would one know if those "specific" cabin options might be available to them? Is it some type of promotion that NCL advertises like any other promotion or would the patron have to call in to "learn" if these "specific" cabins might be available on a cruise I might be interested in?

I think the terms regarding specific sailings may just be there to cover themselves. I used a double cross meta just as the previous poster described working backwards from the stateroom we wanted. ive never heard of anyone not being able to use their points.

So you are saying that anyone can use those meta and double meta's alternatives on ANY NCL cruise? Interesting

Hello,

Apologies if this has been covered before! I had a quick search but didn't find an answer however I'm still getting the hang of using these forums.

We go on our first cruise in the autumn, sailing NCL. I was thinking of getting the card but wasn't sure how it will work being used in the UK? I think I can apply as I can select UK from citizenship drop down. However will this mean I am charged fees when using it in the UK as the card seems to be in dollars, and then possibly more charges by my bank when paying off the card?

If so perhaps it's not such a good idea and I'll look into other reward cards.

Hope the above makes sense!

Thanks!

I think that would be worth a call to Bank of America to be certain.

I called them and asked about this already and you are charged 3% international fees for anywhere outside of the US

I only got this card to use for my NCL purchases and that is it

Chase has a variety of credit cards that do not have any international fees

How long does it take for worldpoints to post to the account?

I just got my card a few weeks ago and have used it. The statement date closes 8/8/2016. Will the 10,000 bonus points show shortly thereafter? What if I make the payment now, even though the statement hasn't closed yet? I am hoping to use the bonus points for OBC on my upcoming 8/30 cruise, but not sure if it will be possible.

Thanks.

Does anyone know if its a better deal to apply for it now or wait until I'm on my cruise. I know sometimes they will give you on board credits for applying for their credit card while on board the ship.

I waited until I was on board and got the offer of $25 OBC for current cruise, and $100 after first purchase.

Disappointed in the NCL MasterCard point redemption process.

I also have the RCCL MasterCard, same Bank Of America provider, etc.

All I had to do to redeem points through RCCL is go online, choose my reward and submit.

For NCL, I first called the number provided on the NCL website. After a 20 minute wait, the person who answered was pretty short with me and I was told to call another number. I explained that I called the number provided on the website. No response at all. So I called that number and they were closed for the day.

I called again this morning and had a 40 minute wait. Once connected it took about 10 more minutes to get the transaction completed.

So in comparison, one website and two minutes for RCCL Rewards.

3 phone calls and over an hour on the phone for NCL Rewards.

Just another reason I will probably go back to RCCL for cruising.
