A hodge podge of random Seaside questions....

Many of which may not have answers yet.....

  • Is the chocolate/coffee/creperia essentially thesame on both Meraviglia and Seaside? Will there be chocolate fountains?
  • I have separately heard about a “tube” slide andthe “slideboarding” slide. Are these one and the same? I see the racing slides on one side of the ship, what looks like a standard, docile brown slide in the center, and what I assume is the slideboarding slideon the other side. The website mentions that there are 5 slides –if so, where is the 5th one?
  • I see the term “ropes course” thrown around, butI think this is more of a play area – no harnesses. Is thisanything more than a rope bridge / water cannons – can’t tell much from thevideo?
  • Will the standard YC1 balcony have a lounger?
  • What are the two separate sections aft of theship on deck 18? Are these accessible?
  • Are there typically adults only sections of MSCships?
  • Will there be afternoon tea served in the maindining room? Yacht club?
  • I assume Cirque du Soleil is unique to Meraviglia and will not be on Seaside?
  • I think I read that the casino is smokefree?
  • I think the panoramic aft lifts will be expresslifts (only decks 7 and 16)? the forward lifts will be designated forYC? Will they go to all floors or just the spa and 16-18?

Thanks for any input!

  • What are the two separate sections aft of the ship on deck 18? Are these accessible? Those are balconies for Aurea balcony rooms.
  • Are there typically adults only sections of MSC ships? Yes, the back pool is adults only, but it's not very heavily enforced.
  • Will there be afternoon tea served in the main dining room? Yacht club? Only in Yacht Club on the Divina, not sure if Seaside will have it.
  • I assume Cirque du Soleil is unique to Meraviglia and will not be on Seaside? It's not on Seaside, no.
  • I think I read that the casino is smokefree? It is.
  • I think the panoramic aft lifts will be express lifts (only decks 7 and 16)? Yes, but it will stop on other floors for Aurea suites. The forward lifts will be designated for YC? No, but they will have keycard access. Will they go to all floors or just the spa and 16-18? They will go to all floors.

As for the not answered questions that is because the Seaside is being completely built and designed of the US Market and Caribbean. With so no answer can be 100% correct until the ship sails or MSC releases more information. The US Cruiser and the European cruiser are two different experiences with different expectations. Example the adult only pool. US Cruisers expect that to be enforced so I think we will see it will be at least attempted. I know many of my friends and I will say something if there are children in the area, as all the adults should. There is a reason it is adults only.

I think the panoramic aft lifts will be express lifts (only decks 7 and 16)? Yes, but it will stop on other floors for Aurea suites. This has not been confirmed by MSC it is a rumor.

Well that explains why kids were in the adult only pools on Meravigilia!!!! lol

We were just on the Meravigilia. I made my comments inline.

  • Is the chocolate/coffee/creperia essentially thesame on both Meraviglia and Seaside? Will there be chocolate fountains? I did not see the fountains. But you can watch them make the chocolates.
On the Meravigilia, there are (3) slides. Two you use inner tubes to go down. The 3rd slide you lay down with your arms crossed against your chest. It's a quick drop into a "bowl" where you "funnel" to a stop. Here is a link to what slideboarding is: http://www.adventuresbydaddy.com/2015/06/30/slideboarding-great-wolf-lodge/
  • I see the term “ropes course” thrown around, butI think this is more of a play area – no harnesses. Is thisanything more than a rope bridge / water cannons – can’t tell much from thevideo? We were harnessed like in rock climbing. The course is built of sections - where you cross either on planks, boards or ropes. It was really fun.
  • I think I read that the casino is smokefree? It was for Meravigilia. I wasn't sure if it is because the cruise line or EU. But now I understand it is MSC policy.!

As it stands there are no Adults only pools on Seaside as yet, it remains to be seen if the South Beach Pool on Deck 7 Aft will be classed as Adults only as tehy have done on the Carnival Vista.

As for the Panoramic lifts on the Aft, only Decks 12,13,14,and 15 will have access for Aurea Suite guests.

Where has MSC confirmed this? I have seen it definitely will and I have seen it definitely won't.

Since I am on a 13 Aft cabin I would love it but can't find where MSC has confirmed. :)

Kelly ... The CEO of MSC Gianni Onorato announced it many months ago, and include the Decks 11 to 16 inclusive from Deck 7.

If you check out the Deck plans you will see that Decks 8,9 and 10 have a solid wall across the back of them while 7 and 10 to 16 do not.

We are on 14 so I was keen to find it out.

He explains that aft express elevators will link the lower promenade and top deck only except for select suite access along the way, adding, “So, it really connects all the outside parts of the ship together…”

I'm confused...I am on deck 14, Fantastica balcony 14263 and very close to the AFT Panoramic elevators, but won't be able to use them?

That is correct as per the story as things stand.

Thanks. That sounds pretty ridiculous. I'm booked for June 9 2018 - very tentatively, so I will be keeping a list of pros and cons.

Similar to the YC having their own access to lifts/elevators.

The original idea was that they would go from Deck 7 to 16 non stop, it was then decided that the upper Aft Aurea Suites would have access only.

The YC makes sense because that is all that is over there. Stupid to have me in a room next to an elevator I can't use.

I guess the answer would be to move to another Fantastica balcony closer to the other lifts/elevators, so far MSC have not said how Aft Suite guests will actually call the Aft lifts.

There aren't any other options right now, about 3 rooms are still available and they are all in that area. I was excited because we are just a few decks below the pool and kids club. I am hoping there are at least stairs there I can use, can't really tell. Not going to go to the Aurea because we are never going to drink as much as it costs to upgrade. Thanks for your help.

The stairway is near to 14247, the Deck plan also appears to show 2 lifts/elevators there also which could be for the crew, the others are in the main body of the ship below where the water park will be and around 14191.

It would appear not, currently only those with Aurea suites on the decks mentioned in my earlier post 11 to 15 will be able to access and alight from those lifts/elevators on those respective floors.

  • 4 months later...

At a few points in this video you can see the aft elevators frequently stopping at various floors along the way. I really don't think that many aft suite guests are calling them. It looks to me they are able to be called by anyone at any floor.

HOOOLD up. So you're saying no one but a handful of suites can access the much touted in every advertisement elevators with a view? Aside from me being very saddened I will never get to ride the elevators with a view, that seems like a huge waste of expense.
