Recently used Mercure Southampton (Dolphin Hotel). Bed, breakfast, transfers both ways and 8 nights parking for £139. Right in the Centre and walking distance to Sea City museum and shops. It's an old quirky hotel but we found it ideal.

We stayed at Ennios Boutique Hotel. They may have had parking....we took the train down from Heathrow so I didn't pay attention. I don't remember how much it cost, but it was a better price than the other places we checked into. It was less than 10 minutes to walk to the ship as well. It's an old building but the room we were in was clean and modern and the bathroom was spa-like. We really enjoyed our stay there. The people were nice too and offered to help us with our luggage (we were on the second floor and there's no elevator). We managed just fine though.

We stayed at the new Travelodge last year (Southampton Central-I think its called). It was perfectly fine, as a new hotel it was lovely and clean, and the location is spot on as just a couple of minutes from the shopping centre, ten minutes from the main restaurant area, and a couple of minutes from the port. It has parking underneath which did cost (around £5 I think). We have booked it again for this year.

We have stayed at the West Quay Premier Inn which is just a good, but a little further from the restaurants on Oxford Road, and the parking is in the multi story car park next door.

We have also stayed at the Novotel which is a nicer hotel but in the last few years has gone up significantly in cost and is more than double the Travelodge, and a little further from the shopping centre and restaurants, but equally as convenient for the port.

When we were looking the costs were around £115 Novotel, £80 Premier Inn, £55 Travelodge, all room only with overnight parking on top.

We book the CPS parking which is quite pricey so don't really want to spent too much on the hotel, but also don't want to stay anywhere grotty, or out of the city centre, as we like to wander round town, walk to dinner in the evening and the convenience of being just a couple of minutes away from the port in the morning.

Hope this helps :)

Very close to the terminal is; Holiday Inn Herbert Walker Avenue and Grand Harbour Hotel. These both have a swimming pool.

Ageas Hilton Hotel is nice and has a cricket pitch view in some rooms.

If you are travelling by car you could stop short and stay at a Travelodge such as Tot Hill Service Area (Little Chef Restaurant) on the A34 and carry on in the morning. A lot revolves around prices, your budget and check-in times allocated by the Cruise Line.

Premier Inn West Quay is a very nice modern hotel and very close to the cruise terminals. It cost us about £4 in taxi to Ocean Terminal .when we were there last June they had a meal deal for breakfast and dinner that was very reasonable.I dont think they have on site parking.

Our preference is the Holiday Inn - right by the sea with fab views of the cruise ships. We lay in bed and watched Britannia arrive in July through the hotel's massive windows (brill)

Have also used the Mercure Dolphin in town and were not impressed with the service, though the food was good in the restaurant.

We've also booked travel lodge Eastleigh for two nights next week 13/15 th Feb before our five day cruise on Ventura .staying here as good price, free parking n shopping in Portsmouth on the Saturday and meeting friends from nearby on the Sunday so felt it suited our needs .

We don't have to be out til 12 midday on the Monday n don't need to check in til at least 2 pm so plenty of time to have a leisurely breakfast n poodle on down to terminal to check in .

We have stayed at The Grand Harbour a few times before cruising. Nice, close to the ship. On our last stay in October we woke in the morning to have a view of our ship (Anthem) from our room. Friends of ours stayed at another hotel somewhere in Southampton and said the view from their room was of a bus and a discarded takeaway :)

We found the opposite! Not impressed with Service at Holiday Inn, but found the staff at the Mercure very friendly and helpful! Also found the room at HI a bit tatty and basic....

the rooms are not that big at the Mercure but for one night we didnt mind. They were clean and nicely furnished.

The Mercure parking package was much cheaper than Holiday Innso we normally go with them now..

Just goes to show how much opinions can differ....

We used the Marriott at Meon Valley over Xmas and New Year (18 nights cruise) after driving from Scotland. Bed, breakfast and evening meal + free parking for up to 28 days and taxi to/from the cruise terminal cost £212.88.

Secure parking at the port would have cost £136 so the accommodation and meals cost only £76 - well worth it!

Hi if you want to splash out 'The Pig in the Wall' is lovely, it's close to everything, has a great bar but the food is really only deli snacks. Room 4 is fab. They do a free shuttle via Land Rover to the 'Pig in the Forest' although we have never done this. There is a gated car park with cctv which costs £10 per night during your stay. This is a boutique style hotel which is a bit pricey.

We are the same. Premier Inn at West Quay is in the city's shopping area, very close to all of the terminals and very comfortable with a reasonable restaurant - all at a fair price.

Overnight parking (assuming you will park for the duration at the car parks at the terminals) is £5 in the West Quay shopping centre next door. This shopping centre also has lots of other dining options if you don't fancy the Premier Inn for eating.
