La Spezia - getting from port to train station

I was wondering the best way to get from La Spezia port to the train station. Can you walk off the ship and hail a taxi, or is traffic restricted in the port? Is there a shuttle to the train station? We have a group of 12, and I wanted to know the most efficient way to get our crew to Stazione Centrale (specifically Platform 1 to get CT passes, and then catch the 8:10 train to CT).

There is a shuttle from ship to tourist office. Can't walk out of port area. Tourist office gave us a map and info. We walked to train station. Once you get away from main road you are walking through a mostly pedestrian area to train. Walk took about 20 min or so.
