Poland Ave Wharf ?

Just found out our ship, Azamara Quest, is docking at the Poland Ave Wharf instead of the main docks in NO. Seems to be off the beaten track. Anyone familiar with this area?

There are plans to build a new cruise terminal at Poland Avenue, but right now it is just what it is called: a wharf. The present terminal will be occupied when your ship (and another one) visit New Orleans. The cruise lines will be providing transportation to the downtown/French Quarter area, about a mile away, and there will be cabs and other transportation available.

Does anyone know how far it is to the convention centre from the wharf. Also how early any shuttle buses will run. We have a tour starting at 8 am.
