I'm watching for that too. I will be on a cruise that ends on April 2nd. Wondering if they will tell us about any changes during that cruise. My guess is that changes would start with cruises that begin on or after April 1st.

I too will be on one that gets back on 4/2. Are you going out of the east coast or the west coast?

Sailing out of NOLA, so Gulf Coast. Looks like weather is cooperating, a good week to cruise. Hope your cruise is great!

Changes now posted on NCL's website. There will be more categories. Some are up to speculation what they really include so I will let you read and determine for yourselves. They are effective April 1 so we may hear next week from some people sailing out this weekend. You can now combine points with Oceania and Regent.

Have been through the new CAS changes briefly, and don't see too much that's negative. Best thing, of course, is that CAS now operates across the entire NCL brand fleet. That will be nice to open up some cruises on Oceania and Regent.

Any word on what the birthday credit is? Still a photo or some other non- interesting thing? (I'm hoping to cruise later this month and it's my birth month.)

Sent from my iPhone using Forums

Just got home from the Dawn. I am Golden (now Sapphire) and was told my birthday credit will be $50 free play.

I was also told that the prior Golden benefit of $100 food/bev and $125 spa credit would be replaced by $200 non-refundable onboard credit that is more flexible to use. Ruby will be $400 OBC.

  • 2 weeks later...

Currently Sapphire (tier) and just off the Spirit. Did receive the $200 non refundable OBC. Canned soda, and bottled water as well as one pack of cigarettes a day were also included. There were also some "goodies" sent to the cabin from the casino host. .Spirit casino staff were very nice and attentive, always greeted me by name. and asked about my day. However, the number of slot machines was very disappointing.

Did they have restrictions on what the $200 non refund. OBC could be used for? Do you know if it could be used in the gift shops?

With our Platinum Plus benefits and SDP, there really aren't a lot of other things I expect to need OBC for. Thanks for the update!

The non refundable OBC can be used in the gift shop and for spa services. It could also be used for speciality dining or drinks if you don't have the drink package. It cannot be used towards the purchase of cruise next certificates or your DSC.

That's good to hear! I've had some trouble in the past when my bill ended up showing a credit for un-used non-refundable OBC. It was a matter of which order CAS had entered my credit for spa and food and then tried to write off my gift shop purchases. Had to call Miami a couple of times but it eventually got credited off correctly. Hoping that now that this credit is all going to look like non-refundable OBC it won't confuse the accounting system on board.
