Walking from Hilton Garden Inn, is it doable?

Just got a great rate from them, and was wondering if it was doable to walk from there to the Carnaval Cruise Port, or would a cab/uber be better? It is just my wife and myself, and only a wheeled suitcase/light travel bag.

Hilton Garden Inn....Convention Center? Doable

Hilton Garden Inn Downtown....pretty rough.

Taxi or Uber would be better. You either have to go around the convention center or to the Riverwalk and through the mall, down stairs, etc. What should be a 10 min walk will turn into a 20-25 minute trek.
