Hi,

We'll be staying at the Residence Inn in Elizabeth, NJ (near the Jersey Garden Mall) for one night pre-cruise. We're interested in buying a couple of 12-packs of canned soda to bring onboard. Is there a place near the Residence Inn where we can purchase canned soda in 12-packs?

Without a car there is unfortunately no place to buy soda by the 12 pack. No place to buy wine either.

If you find a place that sells 12 packs, please post back because lots of folks ask this question.

Hi Carol,

Thank you for your response! Okay that is a bummer. But if I do find a place, I will definitely post back.

Thank you both for the suggestion of the stop and shop. We do plan to use Carmel limo or Dial 7 for car service to the port. We are sailing out of Red Hook.

Red Hook, Brooklyn...and you're staying overnight in Elizabeth, NJ? I guess flying to EWR had advantages over flying to LGA or JFK, either of which are more commonly used by passengers sailing from Red Hook. The other posters were assuming you were sailing out of Cape Liberty...hence the suggestion to go to Stop and Shop. Scratch that suggestion if you're cruising out of Red Hook. The Stop and Shop would be miles out of your way.

By the way, car services will charge you for making a stop at other than your final destination, and it's something that should be arranged, and a price quoted, in advance.

I'm not familiar enough with the area surrounding Red Hook to suggest a place to stop for soda.

Oops! Too many "New York" cruiseports and airports!

Yeah, we are sailing out of Red Hook, Brooklyn on a Saturday and flying into EWR on a Friday early evening. Ok, will scratch the idea of the stop and shop! Appreciate all the help though!

If you're willing to pay for a stop, look at Shop Rite in Jersey City near the Holland Tunnel - http://www.shoprite.com/pd/stores/NJ/Jersey-City/ShopRite-of-Metro-Plaza/60EF711

That's assuming your car service will take you on that route to Red Hook.
