In general they don´t accept prebooking at Oceankaj because in their experience people just takes the first available taxi instead of the one they booked.

but they say that there should be plenty of taxis all the time.

Cool, we are cruising the Baltic on Hal koningsdam, Copenhagen is our first port on 21 June. We dock at c190 langeline, can we walk to the centre from there?

I have only just begun my research so will return with more questions but I know many people recommend the canal boat ride, I have a vague recollection that there is a stop you can get on at that is free if you have the Copenhagen card, is this correct?

I am now re-posting my note from an old thread after GradUT alerted me to this new one.

You have been very helpful to all on CC. I would appreciate your advice on the following:

We will be arriving on a Saturday, 7 May, and will need to go to AC Hotel Bella Sky. We plan to purchase the 24-hour city pass (80 DKK) to use. This is the route we plan to take: Take the DSB line from the airport to Orestad and then take M1 from Orestad to Bella Center to get to AC Hotel Bella Sky.

The next day to get to Oceankaj, we plan to take M1 from Bella Center, get off at Kongens Nytorv to take Bus 26 and then transfer to Bus 27 at Osterport.

Do these routes look fine to you? Are there better routes?

Both routes looks fine, but you have 2 options at Østerport.

If you get off at the first bus stop at Østerport you can get bus 25 that goes directly to Oceankaj without any stops.

But bus 25 doesn't have a fixed timetable, just that it goes between 08:00 and 16:00 and every 20-30th minutes when a cruise ship is in port.

If you take bus 25 its probably easier to just take the metro one stop further to Nørreport and take the bus from there so you only need to change 1 time.

If you take bus 27 you have to get off at the second bus stop at Østerport called Østerport st, Sløjfen.

Will be in Copenhagen May 1, 2016 on the Regal Princess just for the day. Looking to do the above boat tour, picking up the tour at Nyhavn. Wondering about the best way to get there, will be at pier D330. I don't think any canal boat tours come to the port area.

We would like to visit Kronborg castle, Frederiksborg castle, and Frendensborg castle. In addition we would like to see the Louisiana Museum. After the cruise (ends on a Tuesday), we will stay an additional 3 nights in the Nyhavn area. We plan to use the Copenhagen card. In what order should we do these visits to these places and what is the best route?

I also thank you for doing the 2016 version of your important thread.

We are fortunate to be arriving a couple of days early into Copenhagen and staying at the Bethel along with our cousins. We sail the Baltic voyage on the Regal Princess and then on the return to Copenhagen we do the BTB on the Regal to the British Isles/Norway and on back to NY via Boston.

With that we have a couple of days to explore Copenhagen and look forward to visiting this thread to see get ideas of what to do while there. Our first task is to get from the airport to the Bethel with all our 20 day luggage and then from the Bethel to the Oceancay terminal. Good thing we have lots of time until the end of August to figure this out.

We also have booked the 8/26/2017 Copenhagen-Boston transatlantic. This is a wonderful itinerary! We canceled a 2017 Celebrity Iceland cruise in favor of Royal Caribbean's Iceland and Norway transatlantic itinerary.

You have to get bus 25 or 27 to Østerport and then get bus 26 towards Ålholm Plads from there.

You then get off at Kongens Nytorv.

If you get the 25 bus you can continue to Nørreport and take any eastbound metro from there (M1 to Vestamager and M2 to Lufthavnen) and get off at KOngens Nytorv as well.

I would group Kronborg and Louisiana on one trip as it is on the same railwayline.

Kronborg is at the end of the line at Helsingør and Louisiana is located near Humlebæk station 4 stops before Helsingør.

With the metro from your hotel (Kongens Nytorv) and change of train at Nørreport to a Øresundstog towards Helsingør, it will take between 46 and 48 minutes to Helsingør and 10 minutes less to Humlebæk.

Departure from Nørreport on XX:15, XX:35 and XX:55.

Bus 1A stops a little bit further away than 27.

On this map bus 25 stops the same place as 26.

You will end at Nørreport not long from the round tower, Rosenborg and one of the pedestrian streets.

But a short metro ride will get you to Kongens Nytorv.

Danish Viking, what would you do if you just had a couple of days in Copenhagen. We will be arriving around 11 am the day before we board ship and will have a full day after we get off the boat. I have tentatively booked a waking tour for the first afternoon. What would be a must see with just a couple of days? Any suggestions for good, inexpensive restaurants near the central area?

A canal tour and a evening trip to Tivoli, Tivoli is very pretty when the lights are on.

Else I would list the must see attractions like this (in no particular order)

National museum (free entrance)

Blue Planet Aquarium

Copenhagen Zoo

Rosenborg Palace with the crown jewels.

Copenhagen street food on Papirøen or the food market on Israels Plads

Rundetaarn (The Round Tower)

Statens Museum For Kunst

Glyptoteket (must see)

A nice stroll on Strøget pedestrian street.

Cleobello--We had a similar itinerary to yours--arrival in Copenhagen around 11am on the day before our cruise and a full day at the end of the cruise. Danish Viking gave you some excellent suggestions on things to do. You'll just have to choose those that interest you the most.

Definitely take the walking tour of Copenhagen on your first day. We did the Grand Tour with Copenhagen Free Walking Tours and it was EXCELLENT--one of the highlights of our whole cruise.

Also, we discovered a free concert going on in the park around Rosenborg Palace the evening before our cruise began. It was fun to sit outside and listen to the music. Check to see if something similar is going on during your visit.

As for cheap food--eat a Danish hot dog from one of the stands you'll find around town. (Our walking tour made a 30 minute stop during the tour for folks to get food and that's what we ate.) We had a delicious, low-cost vegetarian buffet dinner al fresco at Riz Raz for only 99 DKK. (I'm not vegetarian, but the food was great!) They have locations at Store Kannikestraede 19 and Compagnistraede 20. (The Store Kannikestraede location has a larger menu.) Other "low cost" restaurants that I found through my research are: Spaghetteria La Perla at Landemaerket 27 with pizza and pasta beginning at 100 DKK and Illum Department Store (Stroget at Ostergade 52) and Magasin du Nord Department Store (Kongens Nytorv 13) which both have reasonably-priced meals in their cafeterias.

Regarding meals. We also ate at Riz Raz and thought it was really good. If you go on Viator and type in the city you are visiting, you can book the Hard Rock Cafe at a cheap deal. Skip lines although it has a set menu. We have done it in Copenhagen, San Francisco, LA and New York
