Dining on Boreal, Soleal, etc....

We are considering an Arctic cruise on the Boreal, specifically with Abercrombie and Kent. We have also been looking at other cruises from Ponant.

Our main uncertainty is in dining. We cruise often, and it is our one chance as a couple to "get away" together. Dinners alone, at a table just for the two of us, is important.

Is this feasible giving the dining arrangements on these ships?

Thanks!

  • 3 weeks later...

We sailed with Le Soléal this summer. After a few days asking for a table for two, we were always assigned a separate table... at the back of the restaurant. It was usually a large table, set for two. The dishes were very good, but after four or five days having dinner in the same restaurant, with dishes from the same chef, it gets a bit boring. That's the disadvantage of a small ship. The buffet was also very repetitive, with the same salads and the same desserts every day. Ponant is not for foodies.

Thanks for the responses! Helpful!

We enjoy good food, but we do not travel for the culinary adventure. Privacy, on the other had, is the main joy of our travels; so, a table alone is important to us.

Meldrum--I was pleased to read that they managed to provide a table for two, regardless of how large the table was. Do you know if your cruise was full, or nearly so? I am wondering if this accommodation would be generally be possible.

thanks to all!

The cruise was not completely full, no.

I remember there were only a few (2 or 3?) tables for two. We only had them once. We were mostly seated at a big table in the back.

Greetings from the Mediterrenean Sea, on board MSC Preziosa!
