Guarantee Cabin

Just idle curiousity- wonder how many guarantee cabin reservations cruise lines take? Do they overbook? Do people ever get "bumped" from cruises like they do from planes? Anyone have any ideas? Not worried about it, just wondering.

Most cruise lines overbook. The maximum capacity of a cruise ship 105 to 110 % of the number berths. The rated number is with two passengers per cabin. With 3 & 4 person cabins the will be over the stated capacity.

Interesting. Just had never wondered about the (hopefully small) chance of being bumped off a ship.

I've seen a number of posts where people mention getting "bought out" of overbooked cruises.

This is the only thread I've ever seen where someone was denied boarding for overbooking. You have to read through a little bit to discover this happened to the OP. Definitely very rare ("when the moon turns blue") event.
