Casino Players Club - Win/Loss Statement

  • 2 weeks later...

On my last night aboard Westerdam, I went to the casino manager and requested a win/loss for the cruise ( I had hit a $2000 jackpot and definitely needed one!). He wrote down my information and assured me I'd have one in about 2 weeks. In addition, he printed out two email addresses for people I could contact if I didn't receive the win/loss.

Sure enough, exactly two weeks post-cruise, I got it in the mail.

Wow! Did you take a bath in the casino? How much? Yeah I am a nosey bastard but this is me. :D

The purpose of the Win/Loss statement is to offset winnings as you are already given a 1099 when you win, right? So yes....I DID lose this trip! As I do most of the time.....DH did hit a couple Royal Flushes at $10 a hand...so again, we always request Win/Loss statements to offset winnings that are already registered with IRS by the process of the 1099's.

And as for NCL's casino group - it proved to be much more of a hassle than any other cruise line or casino that we are associated with as I was sent a form but it needed to be NOTARIZED! Anyone ever heard of that? Thankfully (or NOT!) we have enough losses from our usual Vegas hotel to offset all 1099 winnings this year.....ah....the way we "gamblers" love to justify this, huh?

Just email them and they will give you the details.

Ray,

I DID e mail them and received a form in the mail and by e mail. Problem is that they asked for the form to be NOTARIZED! I ended up not needind to show any more losses so did not pursue it. I do not think this is fair as I would not want to have to pay a notary for a service that should be part of gambling in their casinos.....and have NEVER been asked for any other cruise line or Vegas casino to have the request form notarized....

So - maybe I just got the wrong person? But again, I did do it through the website and the form that I received seemed like their usual form...

Next two trips are RCI so not an issue at this point. We will see what the next tax planning season brings!
