RCL Shore Excursion to Petra

Has anyone taken the ship excursion to Petra from Aqaba? If so would we have time to do the hike to the monastery? We are on Explorer for the Oct 9 to Oct 23rd Barcelona to Dubai cruise.

I have only done Petra as an independent tour while travelling through Jordan. I would imagine that you would get to see the highlights of Petra on a Ship Exc which would be enough & I would imagine you would see the Monastery, but you won't see all of it. The area of Petra covers many hectares, we spent more than half a day there & didn't see it all. To speed up time a little you might be able to hire one of the horse drawn carriages if you get any spare time. This might allow you to squeeze in a few more sights within the complex. It's an amazing place. you will love it.

I too have done it as part of a tour (but mine was thru Israel). I highly recommend it. You won't see it all but it is well worth it. It is a bit of a ride to get there, but I am glad I did it.
