If you skip the private complimentry event, is the dining room open?

On our Tahiti cruise last week, the people who did not want to go to the event were told their only option was to order from room service. So maybe it depends on the ship and/or the itinerary.

And there's nothing wrong with room service for one meal. They need to deliver to your cabin, but once you have it there's nothing to prevent you from taking it up on deck if the weather is nice.
