Hotel in Rome

We are getting ready to book the Sicilian Splendors in September. Windstar has a pretty good deal for a 2 night pre-cuise stay. There are two choices Ambasciatori Palace or Grand Hotel de la Minerva. Any thoughts or experiences that anyone can share will be very much appreciated.

I have stayed at Minerva a half dozen times. Really lovely hotel, great rooftop bar, very good staff and a central location.

I have seen the Ambasciatori and like that location as well but I am partial to Minerva. Even when I stay elsewhere in Rome, we go there for drinks at least once.

Check the WS price without the hotel room. You may be able to book the same hotel for a significantly lower price.

Thank you. I did check. The 2 nights "included" are at a significant discount. So if we take them out it only changes the overall cost of the cruise by about $300. But the third night, is much higher. So I think we will do that on our own. But I may also look at VRBO or Home Away to see about renting an apartment

We thoroughly enjoyed the Minerve. Location is great, room lovely, walking distance to good restaurants. Rooftop breakfast was a treat as well.
