Social Hostess on Oceania?

As a solo traveler, I have enjoyed the benefit of having a social hostess on Regent cruises. Does Oceania have a social hostess on all sailings?

There are "social hostesses" on Oceania but how involved they get with solo travelers is open to debate. Most cruises have a singles get together.

Other than that their role seems more to be running events such as the knitting group, etc.

You can asked to be seated at dining tables with other singles and that is a good option.

The R ships are small enough it is not too difficult to meet people if you are at all outgoing.

We have seen a dinner set up for the solo travellers on our cruises

I would try to make some friends on your roll call then you you can always join others for dinner if you want to

Had Claudia on Insignia. Sweetest, hardest working gal on ship. She did singles dinners, Dance classes, needlepoint(have 19 beautiful needlepoint kits), and more.3 single guys and maybe 30 solo ladies on this cruise. Never felt like an odd ball on O either by staff or fellow passengers as on several other lines.

We just got off Riviera last week.

Lisa is the social hostess. She arranges solo passenger get togethers as well as dinners. She also does scarf tying classes as well as needlepoint. Lisa wakls around at tea time and chats with the guests. She also teaches some dance classes. She is a lovely person. We have known her for years and she is great with the guests.

Just a note about how nice Claudia really is. We were recently on Marina on a cruise that ended in Papeete. Claudia was going on vacation after several months at sea. We were in line at the airport in Papeete and we happened to be behind her in the long line and wait to check in. A fellow passenger left her spot in line twice to make lengthy complaints to Claudia about some issues with the cruise. I could not believe this woman. She kept badgering Claudia, who was on vacation, about these issues. Not once, but twice. Claudia was way too nice to her. Claudia told the lady she would not be back with Oceania for two months and there was little she could do. Claudia asked her if she had put these concerns on her end of the cruise evaluation form. She had but continued to bother Claudia. This cruiser was an embarrassment to fellow travellers. I felt bad for Claudia that she had to begin her vacation with memories of this miserable woman. If you are lucky enough to have Claudia as your social hostess, I'm sure you would be very happy.

Are you referring to Claudia who is from Brazil (cannot remember her last name at the moment)? She is an amazingly kind and talented person. We've known her since she worked with Regent on the Paul Gauguin. She was on our cruise from Valpo to PPT recently. She's wonderful.....you will have a great time with her.
