Two cabins-sail away rates

Hi

Looking at a last minute cruise and hoping to book the sail away rates for two rooms where the cruise line does not guarantee location just cabin type at booking. I would like the rooms to be on the same floor, one inside and one balcony room. Would it be better to book a balcony and ocean view? If I book these rooms what are the chances that they would be on the same floor if both rooms have the same last name? I am looking at NCL cruise.

Thanks for your help

With GTY bookings the cruise line can assign a stateroom anywhere on the ship where the category you booked is located. Having two in the same name will not assure they will be together. This is especially difficult if you are booking two separate categories. There is likely very little chance that first of all there will be two across from each other available and second that they would assign both to you. GTY bookings are offered with reduced pricing specifically to have the cruise line make the assignment based on how they want to manage the remaining inventory and not with consideration of passenger preferences.

A GTY booking IMO would not be the way to go, especially if you are trying to get two separate categories across from each other. The odds of getting your preference would be very low. Frankly, on a last minute booking finding two together in that combination might be difficult regardless of how you book. But the better chance would be to book them as a standard booking and have your travel agent or the cruise line search for your desired availability. You will likely pay more but that is the trade off to get what you want.

Look at the deck plans for the ship you are considering. Most ships have OV cabins on lower decks and balconies above. You can get a balcony and inside near each other, and OV and inside the same, but not OV and balcony. EM
