Rental car in Sydney, NS

Can any of you tell me if the airport location of Budget rental cars will pick up/drop off at the port?

I haven't found any rental car agencies that serve the port, so I'm interested as well. The closest (and best rate I've found) is the Budget office (YY5) at 224 Welton Street. Looks to be a mile or so from the port.

I just checked the website for the Budget office on Welton Street, and they will do a free pickup and return to the pier. https://www.budget.com/en/locations/ca/ns/sydney/yy5

But, as you mention, they're only open 8 - noon on Sunday's. They do allow after hours dropoff though, so your only issue would be getting back to the port after dropping off the car. It looks to be about a mile, probably downhill since you're heading toward the coast, so it shouldn't be a bad walk if you can't get a taxi.

Our ship is supposed to arrive at 11am and I was concerned about using the Welton street location in case of delays such as tendering, but it looks like we are the only ship in port that day so maybe I should try them.

Budget will pick you up at the port and return you there as long as it falls during their business hours. It is the downtown location you want, not the airport. If you'd be returning when they're closed, after hour drop offs are allowed, and cabs are available in the area (~$10 fare) if walking the 2 mile route back to the port doesn't appeal to you.

looks like the downtown budget location is sold out the day my cruise gets into town... any other suggestions for pick up from the pier?

Here is a list of car rental agencies from the online phone directory. Check them out to see if they will pick up at the pier. You may be able to google them to get an email address or you may have to phone.
