Stockholm 2016 information and advise

Fantastic! Thanks so much. Do you have a similar map for the Slussen Station.

It looks like there is also an elevator there, but I would like to be able to locate it on a map. Thanks for all of your help.

Yes most stations have at least one elevator. For Slussen station, two of three exits have elevators.

The exist to Götgatan does not have an elevator though.

As far as I know there are no maps of the subway station but there should be signs showing the directions to the elevators.

Red line #13 towards Norsborg and #14 towards Fruängen also stops at Slussen.

I forgot to say that I advocate using public transport over HoHo services.

If there is a HoHo in the morning from S167 and if

you can buy a one stop ticket, then it a good option.

M/s Emelie is also very good option from S167.

I'm reeeeally concerned with getting lost/confused with all the stops & street names with public transportation.

While it's likely more effective travel wise, is it simply easier to navigate HOHO boat or bus? Other than waiting until the last minute, is there any way to know if it'll be at the dock when we arrive at 8am?

We are docking in Stadsgårdskajen.

HoHo buses is usually not a good option as they don't do the stops in the same order as you want to visit them.

HoHo boats will work but I'd say that you will have no problem using the public transport.

Buy a 24 hour SL travel card and you won't have to worry about tickets.

Hi Does anybody know if the HOHO bus still goes to Nynashamn from

Stockholm and reverse. On the http://www.visitnynashamn.se/en/home/cruise/faq.4.2447cef013e3c1b82892878.html it says it does however no one lately seems to mention it on this forum. Help anybody??? Thanks

I don't know. I would advise you to contact Strömma if you have any questions.

--------------

For the next week (until July 9th) if you want to go to from Nynäshamn by commuter train you

have to go by subway between central Stockholm and Farsta Strand.

This is due to the new commuter train tunnel that will open on Monday next week.

From Farsta strand to Centralstation use subway green line #18 towards Hässelby Strand.

From Centralstation to Farsta strand use subway green line #18 towards Farsta strand.

-------

Important!

From July 10th ALL commuter trains changes station from Centralstation to the new commuter train

station called Stockholm City which is located underneath T-centralen which is located underneath Centralstation.

Video of the new startion.

(use arrows to look around)

The new tunnel wil have it's grand opening on Sunday.

I emailed the company and they sent a detailed email back

Dear Rebecca,

Thank you for your email.

Yes, we will send buses to Nynäshamn for your incoming cruise ship NCL Getaway.

To book the transfer, you select and purchase the ticket you wanted and when you arrive just show the ticket at the bus. You do not need to specifically mention or select in the booking that you will take the transfer.

You can easily book and pay your tickets in advance, on our webpage: https://www.stromma.se/en/stockholm/sightseeing/sightseeing-by-bus/open-top-tours/.

But you can also purchase it on the bus in the morning, thought it is recommended to book your tickets in advance.

For tickets on the bus, you can pay with credit card or cash. We take SEK, Euros and USD, but all change will be given in SEK. We have no discounts for students and seniors.

If you have any further questions, don’t hesitate to contact us again.

Have a nice day!

Med vänliga hälsningar/Best regards

Here is downloadable map of T-centralen (subway) / Stockholm City station (commuter trains) http://sl.se/ficktid/karta/vinter/TC_Servicekarta_A4_001.pdf

Quite impressive! I must take a look at the station next time I'm visiting Stockholm. I have never tried the Stockholm pendeltåg but perhaps I could take a short trip as well as the position of the new Odenplan station is much more useful for a visitor than the old Karlberg station.

It is impressive indeed and so far all things seems to work as expected.

Desdichado62, thanks so much for the map! I've been searching for something like this and here it is! You are such an asset for us cruisin' folk!!

Yeah, I have looked for it as well but eventually found it under reseinfo/terminalkartor at sl.se

Desdichado62, is it realistic to think we can walk, with our small wheeled carry-on bags, from the Slussen Hilton to our cruise ship at S160 in light of all the construction? Google Maps shows a route but I don't know if they take construction into account.

Hello Desdichado, Is there a street name for the road that you turn left onto from Statsgarden? Thanks so much. I can't seem to find one when I expand the Google map that you just gave us.

What map and what street? I don't think I have given a map link or a street name?

It depends on where you are going and from where.

Subway Red Line will be not go between Gamla Stan and Slussen from today to July 26th. The Green line will still run as normal

and can be used from T-centralen to Slussen and you can change to the Red line at Slussen if you want to go further south

with the red line.

  • 2 weeks later...

From what I can tell, our Ship (Getaway) will be in berth 167 in Stockholm on Aug 21. Google maps says its only a ~35 minute walk to the Palace on Gamla Stan - this seems like a quick walk and no need for getting T-Bann or Cruise shuttle bus - is this correct and we should can just plan on a quick (easy?) walk from ship to explore Gamla Stan and possibly some other shopping across the bridge? Thanks

Yes the NGW is scheduled to berth at Stadsgården S167 at August 21st at 08.00.

I agree that you could walk to Gamla Stan and the Royal Palace in 30-40 minutes.

unless you wanna visit the Vasa museum as well. The stores and sights in Gamla Stan usually don't open until 10.00 (am).

I know it takes 20 minutes from the Viking LIne terminal at berth 164 to Slussen so 35 minutes from berth 167 to the Palace sounds correct to me.

Can I assume that berth 160 is even closer?

Yes it is. S160 is approx at the Fotografiska museet.
