future planning of ports and routes

While musing over tepid coffee this cool morning I started to ponder how with all the different cruise lines does HAL get St Thomas on a certain day a year from now and Princess get that port the next day?

Most southern ports have limited dock space and there must be conflicts on who gets to stay and who has to sail away!!

Is there a raucous conference a year or more ahead where all the major cruise lines meet with the portly port directors for the Caribbean and arm wrestle for a limited spot a particular day or does the highest bidder get to give each other high fives!!

just asking...
