Ovation: is she the poor relation?

So the first sailing of Ovation is in April. No information as to entertainment, and no dining available to book yet. Is it because she "only" sails from England and is going straight to Asia that there is no fuss over her? On the other hand big flyer about the entertainment on Harmony which is launched 5 weeks later has been released, and dining opened up.

Right, no point is spending lots on adverts for the few sailings in Europe. With no info, the expectation bar can be set real low.

I thought Quantum was the poor relation. Seems to be the only one getting all the charges so far, plus has little information on its different procedures despite being fully operational.

Where is the chatter and speculation as to what the animal is going to be, what will the 270 show be, will they charge for North Star...... Nothing. It's like she doesn't exist![emoji924]

This is exactly why. IF she was coming to the North American shores right away this would be a big deal with lots of speculation about broadway show, animal types etc

Less than 3 months to go and still no info on entertainment or dining. :rolleyes:

I have searched everywhere and unless I'm missing something Ovation seems to be very much amiss

We just made the jump and booked a cruise on the Ovation today and I was surprised how little information there is about this ship.

I'm booked on the Ovation in April, and below is what I've found so far:

1. Speciality dining is open and the options are the same as Anthem and Quantum.

2. Complimentary appear to be the same based on Royal's website (link)

3. Video overview of the construction (link)

4. As far as shows, Spectra's Cabaret is confirmed, and Nick Weir said that Ovation's main show announcement is coming soon when he tweeted about Harmony's show on January 12.

5. Decor of the ship will be provided by the Chinese Imperial Palace (link). I'm curious if the artifacts are onboard for our April 22 sailing out of Southampton.

6. Meyer Werft is doing a good job with their webcam (link)

7. Float out is Feb 20 and the Ems River Conveyance on March 13. Ship's delivery will be April 12 (link)

8. Looking at the Deck Plans, and the lack of mention on the Ovation detail page, it appears that there will not be a Music Hall and the space will be used for more casino space.

9. Conducting a search for the Twitter hashtag #ovationoftheseas usually gets me the most information.

As someone who followed Quantum news compulsively, I agree that for Ovation, it's been very quiet.

Actually the reverse. Her basis is in China, but she will make 4 cruises out of Sydney, for a couple of months.

Hence, the likely suggestion above that Music Hall will be replaced by casino space, which would tie to the Chinese fit-out and purposing.

It is the November 18th cruise that has been cancelled, I was thinking about booking it, then it suddenly sold out and now cancelled. It was quite heavily marketed on the UK booking site.

Ovation is now showing up on the Hong Kong Cruise Terminal schedule from 29th October through to 23rd November, so it looks like she is being repositioned in Hong Kong for a month before leaving for Singapore and then Australia (on a CruiseCo charter).

I knew that it had been cancelled and I also spotted her on the port schedule for Hong Kong. We had our beady eye on that cruise. If they do shorter cruises out of Hong Kong that are open to the general public, that may still work for us. However, it the Ovation has been chartered during that time, then we need to figure out our other options.

No set time, all you can do is periodically check your Cruise Planner on Royal's website.
