Which Rule(s)/Practice(s) would you like to see changed on your Carnival Cruise

Recommended Posts

I would to see all perfumes , colognes , body sprays , scented lotions , heavy after shaves and fragrance oils banned ,at least banned from all inside locations , i am extremely sensitive and allergic to many , unlike avoiding a smoking section , i can not avoid when someone leaves a trail where ever they roam.

Definitely enforce chair hog rules. Just got off the valor- if you weren't out there by 7am every day, forget getting chairs. We were lucky enough to score some loungers 3 decks up from the pool on ONE day of our 8 day cruise. The whole row in front of us was "reserved" with books and towels and in the four hours we spent there, we did not see one person come to those chairs. It is so rude.

It is not really an issue of want or don't want. It is an issue of something that will happen at some point and we will all have to deal with it. Not every venture is successful on the first implementation so what happened in the past is irrelevant. Bottom line is that at some point in the future, all cruise ships will be 100% non-smoking just as flights are non-smoking now.

There is a big difference. In a plane you are in an enclosed capsule with only recirculated air.;)

I will ask for the experts to chime in, but I believe at many ports, the people working the screeners and security are not Carnival employees, but rather port of authority employees

Correct- NOT Carnival employees. I briefly worked, a few months ago, at Port Canaveral checking people in. The check-in people can work multiple cruise lines- they simply change their scarf. Not Carnival employees. So all the rants about boarding problems are directed to the wrong people... Very tough job for minimum wage! Huge turnover. I thought it would be a fun little part-time job. Not!

Its both entertaining and informative learning and reading about the different rules/practices that Carnival has....I would be interested in knowing what people would like to see changed or even implemented

Mine....no shorts in the MDR for dinner on any night....for the sole reason I would like to see a bit more formality in that setting for dinner

Simply reverting every change they have made since 2007. Something they now call JOURNEY CRUISES.

Seriously....different rules on the Journey cruises or just more lax?

That is flat out self entitled....what I like to do, if I see the so called "drop my stuff and run" people, if it's just a towel and say book, after at least an hour, I will pick them up and bring it over to the towel station...."i think these people forgot their stuff" [emoji1]

Drunk southerner in flip flops standing at elevator vestibules foaming at mouth spilling bourbon trying to pencil in his notepad while wearing sunglasses indoors. Has one sock mysteriously sticking out of pocket. Last shaved two days before embarkation.

Like I said....easy to spot:cool:

That's right, this is a thread for wishes and wants.

They have no incentive to mandate pants every night in the MDR. They have no incentive to allow only 1 occupant to buy cheers. They have no incentive to let people bring more wine, they have no incentive for....fill in the blank. But I don't work for Carnival. My priority is maximizing my vacation value. I'd prefer to have Carnival provide a service. If not, there is the First and Ten way of giving the steward $10 to let you in early.

Well it costs them nothing to enforce a dress code. They do have the incentive of $49.95 per day to make the second person in a room buy Cheers. As far as the wine, it's a courtesy that doesn't directly cost them anything. Possibly a few bucks in wine sales, but I'm guessing it's negligible. Hopefully they don't go the way of NCL and ban all carry on beverages (with the exception of wine which you must pay a corkage fee), but you never know.

It won't cost them anything to simply start boarding at 1:30pm when all the cabins are ready so maybe they can just do that. I would not be willing to pay extra to have them hire more people. If it's that important simply board after that time, get FTTF, or obtain status. I couldn't tell you which one at this point because who knows what changes they are going to make :( .

I'm originally from the north but got sick of the taxes. No trailer parks on my side of town, sorry to disappoint your illusions.

There's no incentive for Carnival to do a single one of these suggestions in the thread but this isn't a Carnival Management meeting.

I'll just do it First and Ten's way with a $10 bill.

And if everyone else has the same idea and goes through the doors that tell you not to, it will take even longer for them to get the rooms clean - including yours.

I didn't say this before, but I'll say it now. Enforce the rules that are already in place including the one that says no one is allowed near their cabin until it is ready.

I'd gladly pay the money to Carnival if everyones rooms were ready at boarding as well.

Again, this is not a management meeting, this is about what guests want.

I like the person who said return the topless deck. That's a quiet, adults only area. doesn't mean you must be topless, just means you can. used to be on all ships.

I also would like a policy change that if you want to smoke in the casino, you need to be actively gaming.

I'd like to see a policy revision to match something MSC does where you can purchase a voucher booklet for a set amount of cocktails at a discounted price. Cheers is way more than I can drink, and my wife hardly drinks at all. I'd pay $100 for a 20 voucher book of cocktails, but I probably wouldn't spend $100 on drinks otherwise (MSC is $84 for 18, gratuity included).

I'd also like to see a policy where additional points/credits are added to your VIFP account based on spending levels onboard. I don't know the amount, but for discussion sake, $750 per additional point, etc. (not including cruise fare, casino, or gratuity spend. It would include things like excursions, gift shop, bingo, specialty dining)

I would also like the return of the topless deck. I hate that I get tan lines when I lay out on the ship.

I do miss the drink coupons. We used to buy a couple sheets of them and if we didn't use them that cruise, we saved them for the next one. There is no way I could come close to getting my money's worth with Cheers.

I would like to see double points for solo cruisers.

And bring back the Future Cruise Certificates.

Or better yet, stop cutting back the help to the point they can't get the rooms turned around quick enough. There was a time when you boarded, you could walk directly to your room.

And you know what? I never stopped doing that, even the first time I got one of those notices. It went right in the trash.

When you go from 10 to 20 to now the rumored 35 cabins per steward/pair of stewards, guess what? And to have other customers defend this just blows my mind.

I don't think I have seen anyone defending cutting Crew members. They shouldn't have done it in the first place, but they have. What I don't support is hiring more Crew just for turnaround day simply for the fact of having cabins ready sooner. Now if they had more cabin stewards for the duration and service improved, I'm all for a tiny increase.

Agree with the turnaround point. Barring any delays getting into port, nearly all cabins are ready by 130-200pm....if you don't want to wait on your cabin and want to embark earlier, get FTTF and your cabin will be ready....if you must have your personal space ready for you, show up at 2 pm and board then, your cabin will be ready

It's what we refer to in the automotive industry as "universal grease"

I would like to see smoking banned from all indoor areas of the ship and all private balconies. I am not a smoker so I cannot understand the addiction, but have smoking areas where it won't infringe upon anyone else being able to participate in something.

As it is now, I cannot use the casino. It is just too smoky for me and gives me asthma attack. Why do the smokers get full use of the casino? It also pollutes the air to all the surrounding areas.

Just have spots outside where people who have to have a smoke can go. That way no one is impacted unless they are perhaps in a cabin directly over it.

I'm not judging the smokers. Lord knows I have my own vices.....candy bars, cookies, cakes etc!! But me being a porker doesn't really negatively affect anyone else, unless I guess there are those who would claim I was an eyesore and ruining their trip......[emoji4]. But of course they are free to just look away, One can only hold their breath for so long when trying to avoid smoke.

:D @moongal - your "vices" comment made me LOL Love it :D
