1250pm Flight out Copenhagen?

Recommended Posts

Hello,

My wife and I are thinking about taking NCL out of Copenhagen, we know the cruise arrives into port at 7am, but the flight is at 1250pm flight to early? Or do you think we should wait to the next day?

You've got plenty of time to catch a flight at 12:50 pm. We had a similar arrival time in Copenhagen last summer on HAL. We disembarked as soon as we were allowed and were on the 8:30 am bus to Norreport where we took the Metro to the airport. We were checked into our flight and at the gate by 10:30 am. We sat around for a long time before our flight at 12:30 pm.

My flight home was 12:35pm and I made it easily. 10:50 would make me a little nervous. I used Princess transfers and was on one of the first buses leaving the ship. I was a fair walk from the parking lot at the airport into the terminal with the luggage.

Even taking a taxi as opposed to taking public transportation as we did, I don't think you'd have time to disembark and get to the airport in time for an international flight at 10:30 am.

I would not be comfortable booking any transatlantic flight before noon (or 11:30 am if taking a taxi.)

I wouldn't worry about it at all! Last month we were on the NCL Star Baltic Cruise. We carried our luggage with us and were escorted off with the other "early departure flight" cruisers. We were off the ship at 7am sharp, walked right off the ship and to our private car and arrived at the airport before 7:30. The private car was probably not necessary since the other group of people with early departures had no problem finding a taxi at the dock. We were at our gate by 7:45 and had plenty of time to find breakfast at the airport and do a little shopping, too!

This info is from the airports website, so take notice.

btw a regular day sees 70.000 passengers through the terminals and the record last year was 92.000

BUSY SUMMER

For the first time ever, this year Copenhagen Airport will experience days with more than 100,000 people travelling through the airport. Unfortunately, this may cause additional delays in the security control.

We have called in extra service staff to give you a good start to your holiday. We are also expanding the security control area, so that next year we can welcome you in new surroundings with twice as much space.

We just got back -- Copenhagen is a very easy airport to get around it---we flew directly to Copenhagen from Newark and then also from Hamburg to Copenhagen and then out the next morning. Each time went smoothly. If you like to shop there is loads of shops there.

We got back from Copenhagen yesterday. Our flight was at 11.50am. We left the ship at 7.30am and took the ship's coach transfer to the airport. We arrived there at 8.30am and although there were signs up saying that they were experiencing exceptionally high numbers of travellers, we found it easy and smooth to drop our bags and get through security. We were through security by 9.15am and had 2 hours before boarding started.

Does anyone know how early you can check in for your flight at the Copenhagen airport. Our flight does not leave until nearly 5pm but we do have access to an airport lounge and that would be a comfortable place to wait.

My flight leaving Copenhagen at 1PM was just cancelled. The only option that day would be a 10:55AM flight which seems a bit tight. According to MSC, we can leave the boat at 8AM and I carry my own bag off. I have two questions:

1- What would be the best manner of transport to get to the airport from the port as quickly as possible?

2- If I tell MSC once I'm on the boat about the earlier flight and carrying my own bags, will I have better chances at being among the first off the ship?

Thank you very much in advance for any and all polite and informative responses! I'm aware that this may not be doable if the stars aren't precisely aligned.

What is your destination, if its inside Schengen you should be alright but outside Europe then you will want to be at the airport around 2 hours before departure for check in, security screening and passport control.

With a travel time at around 30 minutes you should be out of the ship and in a car around 08:30, if its inside schengen you probably save yourself 15-20 minutes.

My apologies, I should have mentioned that originally. It is outside Schengen; I'll be heading home to the States.

If it helps then SAS has a departure around 18:30 to New York on most day of the week.

I can see that you are heading for Florida (assuming from your profile), Norwegian fly´s directly to Orlando and Fort Lauderdale 2-3 times a week I don´t know if they fit with a later departure or if they even fly on your date but its something worth cheking out,

Thanks for the help! I was originally looking at Norwegian but the schedule didn't quite work out since as you mentioned, they don't fly every day. I'll check out SAS though. I already teased my boss that I may be staying in Denmark forever if I can't make it back to Florida lol :P
