Suite Manager - new position?

 Share

Recommended Posts

Do you know if a celebrity suite is included in the early luggage delivery? I hope so! we are on equinox in December so hoping t hey are still piloting the process and we qualify :)

We just got off the Equinox on Sunday. We were in a Celebrity Suite and were unaware of a suite manager on ship. We boarded thru the normal suite line. Our luggage was not at our suite when the cabin was initially available. However, it did come very quickly. Quick enough that I made a mental note to myself that it was the fastest we had ever received luggage in 30+ cruises.

We do not spend much time in Michael's Club so that may be why we didn't know about the new suite manager. We made one reservation and I thought it was thru Jole. Now I am wondering if it was Anca? Guess I need to go back and look at my paperwork. We did receive lots of invites and phone messages to participate in suite exclusive activities to include sailaway on the helicopter pad from Cozumel. Hmmmmm......Anca or Jole? I guess I won't know but I will say it was still a great cruise.

I knew this was being done and I am happy to see it is rolling out. Anca is fantastic and a perfect person for this job....Though the head butler Emir on Equinox is pretty fantastic as well. I am sure this will only add more value and services to suite guests, It should not be offered to Zeniths, they have enough. We are Zenith and constantly book suites....when there are too many Zenith's onboard (and there are growing numbers) they can monopolize Michaels club and the concierge and really "take away" from paying suite guests Michaels club experiences. IMHO Celebrity already provides Zenith members with a premium alcohol package, why do they need Michaels club as well?

These Michaels club improvements will be great for both the staff who can move up and around into different positions AND the Suite Guests who will only receive better services.....All good news!

Well isn't this special. I'm sure you constantly book suites and since you are a recent Zenith member you are probably the reason there are more and more Zeniths. People can now buy their way to Zenith. Believe it or not there are plenty of Zenith members who booked suites for many years and didn't get much benefit towards Zenith level. They made it the old fashioned way with many cruises over many years.

Most people I know are happy for those who are able to enjoy their benefits, whether Zenith or Suite occupants. We sail in suites as well and pay for benefits we don't need because we're Zenith. No sour grapes from me. I don't see many Zenith members spending that much time in Michael's anyway but maybe I don't keep track like you do.

I concur! Most Zeniths started cruising long before there was a Loyalty program. We cruised celebrity because we loved the experience. We never asked for any benefits and benefits when they came were not our motivation for cruising. Benefits came as a result of Celebrity's belief that they would add to the bottom line.

We were on Equinox last week.

Total of 5 Zeniths onboard.

Were told that there were 100+ Blue Chip members who also had Michaels Club access.

On Reflection the lounge is the same size as Equinox but has 2X the suite guests due to the old AQ Suites being Sky Suites now.

The Zeniths are not the problem!

That is interesting that one can gamble and get access to Michael's club even though they are not in a suite.

Get them overly juiced and send them off to the Casino. More $$$ for the bottom line.

Last week we were told that there will be 19 Zeniths onboard the Presidents cruise.

Celebrity automatically gives a married spouse the same level even if they have never sailed on Celebrity.

So the 19 includes spouses.

Just to clarify, they only give same level to spouse for Zenith not the other levels, know this from experience.

kk99:

Anca was our MC concierge in April '16 for a TA. She was better than fantastic! I have said that I wouldn't book a cruise dependent on a particular staff member, but if Anca was my concierge, or suite manager, it would certainly weigh in on my decision.

Any chance that you got a business card with her email? I'd love to drop her a note.

Chatted with Anca 2 weeks ago,her works schedule is 4 months on the ship.

Didn't ask when she will goes vacation.

She doesn't station in MC.always see her around the ship overseeing the butlers operation.

This may be a stupid question, but last time I was in a suite, from the conversations there were some blue chip members in Michael's Club. I thought MC was only for suite & Zenith guests. Since I'm not a gambler, can someone explain exactly what a Blue Chip member is and how they gain access to MC.

anyone can join. Only the top 2 tiers get Michael's CLub acess. (big $$$ gamblers, over $100,000 in slot play per year, for example)

Nachosdelux is correct. With MC access limited to only the top 2 tiers (out of 5) of Blue Chip I don't see how BC members can swamp MC. Especially when you consider that these qualifying BC Members may already be eligible for access due to having a suite.

We were told by the MC bartender that there were 100 Blue Chip members with MC access on Equinox last week. From previous discussions with some members there cruise fare was free. Double they get a free suite though.....

Just to clarify....I have been sailing Celebrity since it was Chandris so I am not new Zenith......As far as seeing Zeniths in Michaels, I was once on a cruise with 20 Zeniths+spouses and it was impossible to miss them all....Taking away from the overall Michaels club experience. Glad you didn't notice it. Safe sails!

Wasn't that you who posted fairly recently that you had become Zenith but hadn't heard from the Captain's Club? I can't imagine what the Zeniths could have been doing to upset you so much and I wasn't aware that there were that many Zeniths whose spouses weren't Zenith too. That would be very unusual.

How do you even know who they are?

What you have failed to take into account is that those who booked higher-end suites on long cruises prior to the introduction of Zeniths really lost out on the conversion of old points into new. Had they used the same rules for conversion as points are now earned we would have been Zenith years ago but are not despite also spending a great deal of money on Celebrity over the years.

MC access is also given to VIPs - eg ship's godmother.

We have chatted with lots of people in Michael's and have no idea if they are zeniths, blue chip or suite guests. We could tell you where they were from, their preferred types of cruises but not how they had accessed Michael's!

The only time Michael's has come near to spoilt for us was a large group (family) that congregated in the middle of the room tables near the bar, expanding as more family entered....As others guests came in and filled the 'leg' of the L shaped room it left isolated pockets of seating squashed against the wall!

Fortunately our good host sorted the issue by night two....she had obviously been watching and as the group of six swelled to ten she asked the guests to rearrange themselves to fill the back of the room. She did it thoughtfully and with grace, they responded rather reluctantly. We managed to find social seats each night after this but each night the host had to intervene as the party would again start centre room blocking the bar!

One evening we returned to Michael's a little later than usual and had a short chat with two family members from this group....All they did was moan.....There particular grievance was that they had expected family members traveling with them but not in suites should also be allowed in Michael's 'after all it's only another six people....'. We politely mentioned that there did need to be rules and that Michael's had been really busy this cruise to the point where we had struggled a few nights pre dinner to get a seat. Not surprisingly the response back was 'well you need to come earlier then, we get here early and reserve enough seats for everyone'. Needless to say this was one cruise relationship that did not develop!

With almost all suite passengers having the Premium Alcohol Package, we have noticed a drop in the numbers of people in MIchael's Club. Certainly on our last two cruises (10 & 7 nights), the lounge was rarely full or crowded. We never had any trouble getting a seat or a beverage during cocktail hour. Most nights, there were never more than 10-12 folks there at a time. The only time it was busier, and by no means full, was on Evening Chic nights when the officers were more likely to be there.

Like Chemmo, we talked with others. We discussed many things, but how you accessed MC was not one of them. Occasionally someone would mention something their butler had done, so we knew they were in a suite. That was about as close to finding out their "status" as it came.

I would imagine that on the repositioning cruises, where drink packages are only provided to RS and higher, that the lounge is much more crowded with SS and CS passengers.

This has been our experience as well with the exception of the Transatlantic cruises but even then there was always a seat. We aren't there on a regular basis either but have enjoyed our time and never spend a minute worrying or wondering about how others access Michaels Club. It's a nice place to meet and enjoy talking with old and new friends but there are a lot of other places to be and things to do.

In my experience the group dynamics in Michael's Club are different. Several years ago on a Connie TA we had an amazing group of people and many remained until well after 1:00 AM. On other cruises I've found MC hardly used. I suspect that it will be fairly full on the President's Cruise with a number of people who have bee cruising friends for many years. The dynamics are also influenced by the Michael's Club Concierge. Some just stay at the desk while others actively engage the guests.

Let me be clear I am not an expert on all Blue Chip matters but I am fairly confident that the report of 100 BC members in MC was the result of a fairly rare promotion. Note that I am not challenging the veracity of the poster or the bartender. With the Equinox sailing out of Miami it could be providing the BC with the opportunity to reward BC members with perks such as MC access and other amenities . I also believe that the vast majority of BC members are Americans. I have never experienced a crowding problem in the MC. We sail in 3 days so I will report back here.

As I've said previously: Celebrity decides what promotions and perks they will offer in an attempt to generate business from a target group. Some people just will not accept any program that will challenge their perceived status. You've seen some of that reflected in this thread. Just take advantage of anything you receive and enjoy your cruise.
