Heading out on the Mariner of the Seas shortly. Can anyone explain the taxi situation at Baoshan port? Flying out after disembarkation to Hong Kong and need to get to Shanghai PuDong International. Will taxis be plentiful?

Baoshan's a bit of a mess in terms of traffic. And it's all a bit everyone for themselves.

There will likely also be a shuttle from the terminal to the nearest railway station. You might want to take that if you can't readily find a taxi. They are more plentiful at the station and the infrastructure at the station is better, and won't be anywhere as crowded.

Alternatively you can book the ship's airport shuttle if you want something civilised.

The only thing Royal Caribbean is offering is an excursion for flights leaving Pudong after 4:30 p.m. Our flight is at 1 p.m. and we planned on walking off as soon as the ship arrives/is cleared. I did contact another company for pickup and they are quoting me 400 CNY for the three of us but I have read there are problems with these services as they cannot enter the gate or something like that.

If you have a look at the satellite view (which I've linked here: https://www.google.com.au/maps/place/Shanghai+Wusongkou+International+Cruise+Terminal/@31.4111114,121.503426,466m/data=!3m1!1e3!4m5!3m4!1s0x0:0xe8a1a8fcbcea5baa!8m2!3d31.4090566!4d121.5085788)

you'll see the issue for those services - there isn't any parking available in the vicinity, nor any sizeable waiting area.

Thus, any car/bus coming in has a real squeeze, combined with all the people coming off and looking for transport at the same time. Even turning around can be pretty hard. And there's lot of people and luggage hanging around that also crowds things up.

Shuttles are the most pragmatic thing to get you out of the crowds there, which is why they run them. Alternatively if you prefer that car service you can walk across the bridge which is how we got there on arrival. It's not 'great', but it's okay. They should be able to pick you up fine on the other side.
