No more AARP & Great Stirrup closing for a while.

I don't think the AARP is combinable to any great degree with the current promotions so that is a shrug for me. It may hurt once the other promotions go away though.

If the news about GSC is true that will make a lot of people angry to miss the stop, however as I am booked in December and March it could be a good thing depending on what they do. I hope they don't overbuild it which is likely to happen. HAL has ruined the natural beauty of HMC with their huge cabanas and pirate bar.

I have had no problem combining the AARP rate with the current promos. You just can't do it yourself on their website. BEGIN QUOTE: "We'd also like to let you know that our AARP Partnership agreement will be expiring on April 30th 2016. As a result, we will no longer be offering AARP members a promotional discount as of this date." END QUOTE :(

Maybe partnership with AMEX again? Or with no one....who knows.....

I think NCL should do away with the AARP discount and go with a Senior discount. Not everyone wants to join AARP.

I'm fine with them offering a senior discount, but you should realize that AARP membership is available to anyone, not just senior citizens.

I would think NCL is going to partner with another party to offer booking discounts. I guess we will have to wait until the end of the month to see.

GSC closing for a month and a half; what is up with that???

What they should do to improve GSC is build a pier so the ships can dock. Right now the ships miss this island more then they go there. It seems the seas are always to rough to tender there.

Sure it was. There were AARP discounted cruises that were usually off-peak, but ANY cruise booked more than 9 months in advance got 5% off. I was able to get my TA to apply the discount when I found out on my existing cruise.

If anyone already booked a cruise, NOW is the time to see if you can get the discount. You can join AARP for a year for $16. It will pay for itself in this one transaction. No age minimum.

AARP is definitely combinable.

Just heard from my ta that as of April 30 AARP discount ends.

I'm sorry to hear that. But, now I have rationale for the booking I made yesterday--when my friends say something about my having another cruise booked, I can say, "But the AARP discount is going away, I HAD to book another cruise!" :D

That is definitely not true. Yes, there are some unfortunate people that do miss GSC more (often because of their preferred time of year to cruise) but that is not what usually happens. I, for one, have never missed GSC.

I stand corrected, I suppose but when I did a faux booking I could get one or the other. :o:confused:

I guess I should call my TA.

Yes, call your TA. He or she will be able to apply both. I just booked yesterday and received the AARP discount as well as the current promo.

I like this, you and I think alike :) Now if I could just get my husband to think like us :D

This is what the knowledgable chengkp75 said about building a pier: It would take not only a pier and dredging, but also a breakwater to shelter the pier from what I can see of the topography of both GSC and Coco Cay. Lots and lots of money.

Just called my Casino at Sea rep and AARP is not available on reservations made through them. :(:(

Just tried to make a booking for 2017 and there was no longer an AARP option. (Even tried going by through the "AARP" page on NCL)

In the past, we've been able to combine the 5% off with the dining promo.

I'm scheduled for a stop at GSC on 8/25/16....

If it's true that the stop will ce cancelled due to "updates", this will be the first time I've not made it.....my last 5 cruises that included CGS have all been able to tender in.

Also, I booked a cabana for 8/25 earlier today - before I saw this post - and it the site allowed it. Did I just miss the notice on My NCL?!?!

Did you call or just try to do it on the website? You need to either call NCL or your TA to combine the two.
