Cabo: Chileno Bay or Santa Maria Cove

I have never gone to Santa Maria's, which I believe is just north of Chilean Beach. But I have gone many times to Chilean, which in recent years has been very upgraded. There is now a boardwalk along the beach, with shaded areas along it. However, locals and early arrivers grab the shaded raised areas quickly and hang out all day. If you want shade, you may need to bring an umbrella. I don't recall any rentals my last visit.

Usually, I hire a cab to take me and then pick me up and pay them on the way back. But last time, and note this never has happened before, the cab took two of us there but he did not return. We had to get back to the ship, so we started to ask people in the parking lot for a ride back to town. A nice honeymoon couple took us back, thankfully.

I remember being surprised at how much money the cab driver wanted; it was much higher than all other trips.

Is the snorkeling at these beaches much better than at Medano? (Which I realize is sometimes not swimmable, but assuming it is...)

There really isn't much snorkeling at Medano. I see people out there, but I don't think they are seeing much. There is more snorkeling at Lover's Beach.

It's rare that Medano is not swimmable.
