Mini bars

A friend who has recently returned from a cruise on Aurora says that she was told that all cabins on all P&O ships are to be fitted with Minibars on a rolling programme. She didn't know if this was true, or if the standard refrigerators are to be replaced.

Anyone know anything about this?

The mini bar is the fridge. The items are put in the fridge at the start of the cruise. If you do not want them your steward will remove them.

I suspect the stewards are going to be very busy, they will probably end up just stacking the bigger items under the dressing table cut out, just like they now do on Celebrity.

Having probably just come off the same cruise, yes it is. Its not free though.

Has been introduced on Azura since June - The usual fridge is stocked with chargeable items and added to your account when you use any and are replaced.

What are the prices and can you pick and choose what you want to have?

Also the two small bottles of water that has been free on embarkation are now part of the mini bar and are charged to your account if used ( £1.50)

Yes, you'd have drink cans one would assume which you take and get charged for whichever ones you drink.

The first two small bottles were free on Azura in June and also last weekend, Sunshine Boy :)

That is interesting as I was charged on Azura also in June !!!

It showed on the account overview on the to as a bar charge and I had to check with reception what it was and I was informed it was for the water

Really?? Oh dear.....

Well, we used both our water on both trips and it didn't appear on the account. Mind you, the two free ones were on the top of the cupboard near the kettle when we embarked and there were two more in the fridge - I think there was a sparklling water and a still and I think, though am not totally sure, that they were a different brand?

We were on the Iceland cruise on 19 June - were you on the same?

That s the difference we did not have the two on top of the cupboard and only one of each in the fridge

It was the same on our second trip in August on Azura but back to "normal" last week on Btitannia and no mini bar as yet

Obviously confusion reigns... perhaps it depends on the cabin steward and/or the old stock of water to use up?

Quite so and somewhat typical of P and O that the information provided is not the same for everyone

Interesting too that we had the same cabin steward on the Iceland cruise and on the 3 nighter last weekend.

We were in the same cabin corridor in June and also last weekend, so maybe our steward has a secret stock of free water lol.
