Thanks for the link to the great article about the Walled City/Old City. So many times I came across references to either the Walled City or the Old City and wanted to make sure they were one in the same. Thanks again I can't wait to get there.

I've read conflicting things about Cartagena. Is the Old City within walking distance from the cruise port, or do you need to take a taxi?

 

You need to take a taxi. It is about a 10-15 minute drive. It is very hot and humid there, and there are some sketchy parts of town outside the walled city. There are different opinions about inside-the-port (expensive, possibly English-speaking "cartel") taxi drivers vs. outside-the-port (cheap, possibly reckless) taxi drivers.
