It is likely that you will be on a group booking from Cunard's allocation and so you will have to wait until check-in. You could ask Cunard's flight department to transfer your seat(s) onto a separate reference and then you will be able to access the booking on BA's site but, unless you pay, I doubt you will be able to select your seats until online check-in opens 24 hours before your flight.

Absolutely correct and exactly the problem I have experienced on two occasions. Indeed, the problem arises in both directions and touched us following the 175th anniversary cruise...

We booked long haul flights with Cunard, once. Never again if we we can avoid doing so. Flights/cruise paid for but seats not released to us for seat choice until a few weeks prior to flying. Our preferred seat choices, had gone. Now we either book flights and cruise with our agent or book the flights ourselves.

Hi

If you can get the 5 or 6 digit air ticket booking code, often looks like 3RULZ5, or something, you should be able to log into BAs website and select your own seats 24 hours before departure. I would guess that as that is normal booking policy for BA unless you pay extra to pre-select or you've moved up in their frequent flyer system.

On line check-in with BA opens 24 hours before the flight. If you wish to reserve a particular seat beforehand you have to pay a fee.

You cannot do that if the seats are part of a Cunard group booking as all the passengers within the group will share the same booking code. That is why the OP must first ask Cunard's flight department to move their seats to a separate booking code.

I stayed the night before in the Sofitel Hotel Terminal 5 and just wandered into the terminal looking bewildered. A BA guy asked us if he could help us so I just told him I was on a cruise from New York and flying out tomorrow. He said he could book us into the seats so I said we need a window and another next to that so he did something on a console and the following day we had good seats. Cunard seem to book a tight block as the people around us were all with Cunard. Staying overnight in the Sofitel is a good idea.

I would certainly talk to the Cunard flight department as soon as possible and ask them to transfer your seats onto a separate PNR. This will allow you to contact BA and notify them of your wife's needs and they will immediately allocate seats for you and your wife free of charge. There is no need to wait until check-in. It may be worthwhile checking on https://www.seatguru.com/ to see a layout of the aircraft that will be used for your flight to identify any particular seats that you may prefer. Using your flight number, if you know it, will provide a more accurate result. You may then ask the BA agent to allocate the seats of your choice, assuming of course that they are not already taken by other passengers. Do bear in mind that certain seats, generally around the emergency exits, can only be taken by able bodied passengers. Arrangements will also be made for you and your wife to be escorted through airport security which often saves time. You will also be allowed to board the aircraft before the main boarding process begins. Good luck.

Jason, if your wife is a wheelchair user then you will have filled out the form Cunard supply for wheelchair users/disabled passengers.

One would assume, joined up thinking means if you book a flight and cruise as a package and have informed Cunard of your requirements, the left hand will know what the right hand has been told and therefore the airline will have been informed of your needs.

Never assume anything.

Get in touch with Cunard or your TA and make sure the airline is aware you are travelling as disabled passenger and 'carer' and therefore

a] you need to sit together

b] they have made sure ground staff are aware of your requirements as it's they who will accompany you from check in to the aircraft and seat if needs be, with disabled assistance.

Then once you have this assurance from Cunard/your TA, get in touch with the airline yourself to double check.

Check again if you're not satisfied.

Thnaks for replies, we very well travelled and understand the flight situations, yes filled in disability forms, already phoned Cunard last week who added us to the OCS but said we needed to wait for seats.!! this is why I raised a post here cause I was not convinced of Cunard's answer, I also phoned BA who were unhelpful cause I did not have a booking reference for them, I'm going to get on this next week.

Chartered flights are so much easier, when you don't have full control..

Thanks

Whatever happened? Surely not just seat choices?

And surely that goes against most forum's perceived wisdom should there be a delay, the ship is entitled to sail without you.

I guess one can take precautions and fly well in advance of the sailing date but then that adds extra accommodation costs.

As an aside, has anyone noticed fly-cruise prices dropping after flights come into zone?

Congratulations.

I always have great faith in BA and Cunard.

As a regular Viking Ocean and River cruiser BA is their chosen partner. We also flew home BA Business Class from Sydney having disembarked Queen Mary 2.
