On Board Credit

Just been quoted for a 14 day trip on QE next May , the package included $900 on board credit (per couple) .

Can this be used for drinks/gratuities etc ? , we are not big drinkers prob 4 each per night after dinner and was wondering how the credit package might pan out .

Yes, it can drinks, hotel and dining charge, shore excursions (if booked on board) etc

Two years ago our OBC balance had an error at our embarkation and it took a few days to straighten out, with the result that when it did hit there wasn't enough time remaining to drink it all away ( :) ). We ended up visiting the jewelry store and got DW a nice sapphire pendant.

It can be used for anything except the Casino. If you have difficulty spending it all, treat the person sitting next to you at the Bar to a cocktail or two . :D

How sure are you that the crew got it.

Well we had paperwork to say it had been added to our auto-gratuities. I am as sure as I am about those.

In case you aren't already aware: if you book tours, alternative restaurants, special packages, etc. through Voyage Personalizer, your credit card will be charged.

Only charges incurred while you are on board will be deducted from your on board credit.

If you booked Britannina Category, your Hotel & Dining charge is $11.50 pp per day (14X$23 =$322. That leaves you $578 - or $20.64 each per day to spend).

Math is not my strong point, so please double check :) -S.

Then, there are spa services…

Thanks for reply , yes expected that alternative dining etc would be an extra charge but didn't know there was a H & D charge of $11.50 each day , travel agent never mentioned that .

That $900 obc deal expired yesterday (30/09) , we are seeing friends tomorrow who may want to cruise with us so we will have to see what the new deal is .

Is the Hotel & Dining charge pretty standard ? , we did a RC cruise some 15 yrs ago and don't remember extras added one apart from drinks .

Yes, most of the mainstream lines now have some form of charge which covers gratuities.

It's not often referred to as a Hotel & Dining charge although that's the term Cunard uses.. More likely you'll see it referred to as "Automatic gratuities" or Auto-tip.
