Palo Brunch on the Dream (Nassau)?

There was a rumor floating around (see what I did there?) that Palo was holding brunch during the Dream 3-day to Nassau and CC. I got a hold of a few of the latest Navigators and it doesn't say anything about Palo being open for brunch.

Has anyone been on a Nassau/CC 3 day and been able to attend a Palo Brunch?

TIA!

The Navigator never shows Palo brunch hours.

Yes, it's reported that the Nassau day on the 3 night cruise has Palo brunch available now.

Thank you!!

Yes, there is a dress code for Palo. From the DCL website:

Dress to Impress

To preserve the elegant ambiance of this restaurant, you are asked to adhere to a dress code when dining at Palo. We recommend dress pants or slacks and a collared shirt for men, and a dress, skirt or pants and a blouse for women. Jeans may also be worn if in good condition (no holes). Please no tank tops, swimsuits, swimsuit cover-ups, shorts, hats, cut-offs, torn clothing, t-shirts with offensive language and/or graphics, flip-flops or tennis shoes.

Palo is $30 per person for either brunch or dinner. Extra cost for wine pairings.

Thanks!! I didn't know if the dress code might be different for brunch than at dinner.

Is this a served brunch or buffet?

The dress code for Palo has always been the same for both brunch and dinner. That being said, for brunch it always seems to be a bit more relaxed. Still no tank tops, swimsuits, swimsuit cover-ups, shorts, hats, cut-offs, torn clothing, t-shirts with offensive language and/or graphics, flip-flops or tennis shoes, but, while many men might wear a suit or at least a jacket or tie for dinner, it's not so much for brunch.

It's both a buffet and a served menu. When you go in and are seated your server will come and escort you to the various tables showing you what's there. Then they will either hold your plate and serve you what you point out, or you can ask to serve yourself. One of the areas has samples of items you can order (my recommendations: chicken Parmesan and the grape & gorgonzola pizza). Once you are seated (with your first plate) the server will take your order for those items. You can return to the buffet service as many times as you wish.

Thanks for the info. Any info on the menu?

Can you book this prior to boarding or do you have to wait til you're onboard?

You can book it when your excursion/adult dining/spa booking window opens. I'll just point out that brunch, unlike dinner, reservations are few and hard to come by. For the most part, brunch is only available on sea days, and recently on the Nassau day for the Dream cruises.

If you're unable to secure a reservation at that time, just keep checking all the way up until 3 days prior to your cruise. DCL does hold back some reservations for the adult dining for booking onboard, so you can always check at the Palo/Remy dining changes location (where/when will be noted in the Navigator you get in the terminal) and seeing if you can snag something then.

You can read here about the Palo menu:

I was surprised that we didn't need to pay online. On other lines when we've made dining reservations beforehand, we've always had to pay when the reservation was made.

The charge is added to your onboard account when you receive the service. Same for excursions. If for some reason you choose or cannot attend, then there is no refund to worry about. As long as you are within the cancellation period and terms.

Our early Dec. 3 day Dream cruise booking window opened a few days ago and we were able to book Palo brunch with no problem and plenty of availability a day after our booking window opened (for gold level). I'd much rather do this than any activities in Nassau...except maybe getting off to check email in a cafe that has internet.

Just read on another board that the Wonder has started a new printed menu based approach to brunch along with the buffet.

Some items such as the strawberry soup, grape and gorgonzola pizza have been removed and replaced with other items.

Others have reported that these were available on other ships still.

Just so you are prepared if they roll it out across the fleet.

If they get rid of the chicken parm and/or the ahi tuna, I riot.

Well, they still have the chicken parmesan, but they've eliminated the grape and gorgonzola pizza. Not sure - was the ahi tuna one of the ordered items? Or on the buffet?

Here's the new menu:

Last week they had the chicken parm and the grape/Gorgonzola pizza. They also still had the spicy ahi tuna on the buffet.

Thats why it's always best when you go on a cruise to have an open mind as to what you will get and what is offered.

Cruises change from cruise to cruise and ship to ship as they are rolled out across the fleet, and why no one answer on here is definitive for someones upcoming cruise.

Also why the CM's on the phone and answering emails also often give incorrect information. They are usually the last to know, and often give out old information because they weren't informed, or given a line to tell Guests by management shoreside.

You can also make a special request which the chef may or may not be able to honor.

For example, they removed all the pizza from the dinner menu several years ago. The explanation was that it was not "upscale" Italian food and they wanted to make the dinner menu more fancy. Well, we have a family member who loves the Palo pizza. We were there once and there was a "special" pizza with toppings not to her liking, so she asked for the Palo cheese pizza. The server pulled the "I'm not sure" number and she replied that if they were making pizza with XYZ on it that night, there was no reason that they couldn't make one with just the cheeses. Bottom line--with a little pushing, she's never been denied.

I'd suggest the same approach if one of your favorites is missing at brunch.

I'm almost certain it was on the buffet. Let me rephrase that, it was on the buffet, not sure I remeber it as an entree choice.

I don't think they've changed anything on the actual buffet portion of the brunch. Just the part where you order something. You used to order after looking at the sample plates of items available. Now what they have for ordering is on the printed menu.
