Hi all,

Planning on doing the Overnight Bangkok On Your Own and see some postings that the shuttle drops you off at Asia Hotel and other posting say they drop you off at Central World Plaza. Don't know if there has been a change in drop-off location as the Asia Hotel postings appear more recent versus the Central World Plaza postings. Can anyone help me out? Figuring where to book overnight so don't have to schlep carry-on as far.

We had a wonderful time with BKK Tours. Picked us up at the port followed by a full day touring in Bangkok. Dropped us at the hotel of our choice (Hilton) about 5 and picked us up at 8 the next morning for some more touring and return to the ship. Price included guide, driver, new van. Can't say enough about the service and the price for four was probably about what you would pay for the ship's trip.

Same here. We've already said that if we ever go back, we'd definitely use their services again - Miss Air was fabulous ;).

In March this year we were dropped off at Central World Plaza (and also picked up there the next day). But it was said that the actual place depends on traffic.

Hello. We did this trip with the Celebrity shuttle, albeit last year now. The drop off was Central Plaza and collection the next day. We have stopped in Bangkok a number of times on land holidays and we prefer to stay on the river as it is easier to get around to a good number of the sights using the tourist boats. Our choice is the Royal Orchid Sheraton although there are number of hotels on the river. It is easy with a small bag to walk a short way (a sky walkway above the road) to the skytrain stop at Siam Central and take the Silom line towards and from there down to the river stopping at Saphan Taksin on the river. If you choose a hotel with a courtesy boat, you can then jump on this and straight to your hotel. This avoids the terrible traffic and maximises your time in Bangkok. You can use the river taxis to reach a number of the main sights. I suppose it will depend upon what you want to see however. The next day you can do this in reverse. I am sure even if the drop off is different, it will be near a sky train station. Have a great time. It sounds like the cruise we went on and it was absolutely fabulous!

Thanks to everyone that has replied. We were in Bangkok 2 years ago on a land tour and did most of our sightseeing then. We also stayed in a hotel on the Chao Praya River. This time we're gonna use reward points and stay at the Grand Hyatt Erawan which is close walking distance to Central World Plaza.
