EWR Security

Flew to Oslo yesterday on SAS out of Newark. This may be no surprise to those of you that fly through there often but the TSA wait times in terminal B were unbelievable. We were flying business so got to use the "expedited" line (and I use that term loosely). It probably took us 25 minutes or so to get through. But the regular line looked like the queue for Space Mountain on the 4th of July!! And it was almost as hot. I was talking to a lady as we redressed after getting thru the check and she said they had waited about 75 minutes and the lines got longer while they were waiting.

Actually EWR kind of reminded me of a bad bus station. Yuck. Hadn't flown out of there in years and now I remember why!

Likewise with JFK at times.

Can't say I agree with you there. JFK is much more compartmentalized than EWR is so the wait times are hugely variable.

I use JFK on average about weekly, mostly on AA but a mix of BA and Jetblue are my other primary carriers from there too. Between TSA PreCheck and Priority Security options (due to cabin class and elite status) you can be through security very quickly indeed. Last week at Terminal 8 I was from curbside to Flagship Lounge with champagne in hand in less than 5mins.

EWR is not a good or nice airport and with all of the construction going on it is getting worse. That said, I mostly go through Terminal C and between TSA Pre and a bit of Premier status I cannot recall waiting more than 15 minutes in the past few years. TSA Pre does help a lot.

EWR probably has the rudest and most ill mannered work force than anywhere in the country! Their entire attitude often seems to be to make your travel experience as unpleasant as possible. I always try to avoid that airport, even if it means taking not as convenient flights.
