Would appreciate your thoughts on transfer from Vancouver airport to Pan Pacific Hotel and from Vancouver cruise terminal to airport. Taxi or Aerocar or Execucar?

Thanks

^...and we also check West Coast and Alaska boards;-) Arguably, since OP is departing from Vancouver, then West Coast Departures is the most correct choice of board!

Anyhoo - taxi and aerocar both offer a fixed-rate fare ($35 for cabs, price for limos varies depending on size of vehicle) to the pier. Only aerocar offers fixed-rate on the way back - but even in ridonkulous traffic a metered cab will be cheaper (it's usually very close to the fixed rate of $35). They also both have the advantage of walk-up queues - although you CAN book in advance it's a $50 Meet & Greet fee for Aerocar, which includes 1 hour of wait time if your flight is delayed and help with baggage from the arrivals hall doors - if you need help with bags you'll need it before then so you're already paying a skycap, and they charge the same price to take the bags all the way to the curb.

Prebooking also introduces a delay - cars are not allowed to wait outside the terminal, so your driver has to leave you at thew curb while they go and get the car and drive it over... it's frankly faster to just line up for a cab or limo instead! Edit - on the way back from the pier - if you have a tight flight time, e.g. 11am or earlier, then a prebooked Aerocar with $50 M&G fee will guarantee you are in a car within 5 mins. Since taxi queues can run over an hour on 3 ship days, you may feel this is worth the money on the way back. But unless you have a very early flight it's another unnecessary expense.

Any other limo company is, to be frank, an exercise in frustration as they must charge more than aerocar and reviews across the board are mixed for all companies. Aerocar has the unique airport franchise, which allows them to charge less than the legal minum fare that applies to all other routes (you are billed for a minimum of one hour, which is generally $90+, by everyone else).

@eandp: To clarify...

  • how big is your party?
  • what date and time is your flight arriving?

In general.... my vote is the cab. You can get two cabs with what Aerocar charges.

There's also the subway as another option.

We stayed at the Pan Pacific Hotel last year. We have stayed there two other times.

Last year after arriving to Vancouver we took Aerocar (you could make reservations and pay a little more). We waited about 20 minutes for the vehicle. Or as mentioned for the same price you can take a taxi.

There was a line for the taxi and we estimated that would have been about 10 to 15 minutes of a wait.
