Carnival Paradise Cozumel 11am-8pm shops stay open?

we are on the Carnival Paradise arriving in Cozumel on Wed, Aug. 8, hours 11am - 8pm. What time do downtown shops close? This is first time we will be on a ship that arrives late AND stays late. My recollection is that they close at 5 or 6. We are doing a 3hour snorkel excursion and think we may need to schedule shopping first. Thoughts?

We were just in Cozumel on our last Cruise. We were there 8-5 and the shops were open. We did walk to another Port where the new Margaritaville Restaurant is there were all kinds of different shops as well but they were all closed. When I asked why they were closed they said b/c since there are 2 or 3 (don't remember the exact #) of ship ports in Cozumel that the stores base their hours on the ships coming in. So you should be fine with those shopping hours b/c that's how the businesses coordinate what dates and times they are open based on the number of ships coming into that Port and they hours they will be in Port.
