I am recently back from a fab trip on The Oasis, and was surprised and dissapointed about the way people have treated this amazing ship.
It is clear that people have stolen some of the smaller items of artwork around the ship. Literally ripping them of the walls and leaving holes behind, particulary in the corridor leading to the casino. Maybe it is just not in my nature, but to those that do steal. STOP IT NOW !!!

That's a shame. When we were on in January I didn't see anything missing but at that point it was obvious that anything that said inaugural was being taken and put on EBay so they probably weren't interested in the rest. That hall was a cool feature and RCCL has a video of the artist on line explaining it. Amazing what people will steal to save a buck, you can buy your own onboard, why ruin the artist's carefully planned out piece.

That is disgusting. Some people have no consideration for other people's enjoyment of ships. For that matter, when the same people rent cars, they abuse them because they figure it is not their car. I, however, am quite the opposite, I treat the car as if it is my own because other people will be paying to the same car and would want something different. Also, these same cars are sold. My present car was a rental car and it was a very expensive car and it took me months to get everything little thing fixed. People today just don't have any class.

Thieves take vacations too.

Lets' face it...there are many people who do as they wish no matter what. That attitude is prevelant today...cruise ships aren't immune evidently.

I was disappointed to see that people had punched holes in some of the hanging wall artwork between stairway landings on the Explorer this past June. I will never understand the mentality of vandals.

I guess some people take it for granted that they are able to sail on these wonderful ships at an affordable rate because of all the other passengers on board with them. The depravity of humans can be depressing, but for every lowlife, I'd like to think there are a handful of good people.

Of course, the cruiselines also have the name, address and picture of every person onboard. And video cameras covering all the public areas. It might take some time looking at tape, but wouldn't it be nice to hear that the line charges these people for their vandalism, and takes them to court if they don't pay up?

I agree that stealing anything that is for our enjoyment is very wrong.
However I have to admit that I am running out of Princess hand soap, and I may also have the odd pen or two.

I was about to ask why hasn't the cruiseline review the tapes but then I guess it does take time to review the tape and then match those faces to those that were put into the computer when they walked on board. As far a previous poster mentioned that some of this stolen items are probaly going to show up on E-Bay ?! It just goes to show you the mentality of a crook. If I was a cruise line that is the first place I would look for stolen merchandise.

Why are there thieves and vandals anywhere? A better question might be: why do there seem to be a higher number of them aboard any given ship or line? I can't say that I've ever noted such vandalism or any obvious thievery on any cruises I've been on.....

Maybe certain lines with more of a younger demographic and "active" (read "party") mentality have more problems in these areas than more sedate lines.

I remember a post on these boards a few months ago. A lady always ordered her dinner in her cabin. After a few days she was asked what became of the dishes and cutlery. Her reply was that she just put it all on a trolley outside, later in the evening, after she had finished her meal.
On the final night, her luggage, after it had been put out was searched, and it seems, it included a complete dinner service for twelve.
It must have been very heavy!!!

When you have people who push ahead in line, hog lounges, save rows of seats in the theatre, and generally act as though the world owes them, and that the rules do not apply to them --- why would you be surprised that they are also theives?

It is amazing what is offered for sale on E-Bay. I've been collecting items from long out of service ships such as coffee cups, ash trays (long ago ships) and even some writing paper.

All sorts of things are listed from the current ships.

You have to wonder if some of that stuff has been stolen such as plates from the Crystal ships and glasswear from the new Queen Mary.
