I find this interesting:

"Passengers confined to their cabins do have a small consolation. The cruise line is compensating passengers, at the daily rate, for days they're not allowed to venture outside their staterooms."

Is that being done to encourage the pax's to stay in their cabins and not spread the virus around?

is it my imagination..is there fewer noro. outbreaks this past yr. that
previous yrs?

or am i just seeing things more in perspective now..that there are far
fewer instances compared to the national average of those contracting
the flu..

Yes, that's exactly why -- norovirus spreads so easily that one sick person can really spread it around. I think it's good that Fred. Olsen is refunding people the daily rate for that because it's an added incentive to stay inside. And not feel like you're losing vacation that you paid for.

Norovirus has always been around, will always be around. I think we're hearing less about it because people understand what it is, understand how to try to avoid it, etc.

At Cruise Critic, where we've been covering outbreaks for years, we won't typically even write about it unless more than 10 percent onboard are affected. It's that common. And of course it's common everywhere....
