Really??  Why do they go under the bridge now?

I was just on this ship. They arrive with the bow facing the bridge. Upon departure, they use the thrusters to rotate 180, to face downstream towards the ocean. This is the Erato St. Dock in NOL which incidentally, has all the elevators at the port locked down. To walk from river walk to port involves descending about 50 stairs.
